B. K. Majumdar Institute of Business Administration (BKMIBA) was setup in 1999 as a
self-financed Institute offering a 3 year BBA programme affiliated to the Gujarat University. As a member of the H.L. Group of Educational Institutes, BKMIBA shares the H.L. Legacy in terms of quality of education, standards of discipline and inculcation of values. Within a short span of 10 years BKMIBA has made a strong mark on the undergrad business education as being an institute of first preferred choice. It has consistently had the highest cut-off at the admissions and maximum ranks at all the three years in the university results. BKMIBA is the only self financed, standalone undergraduate Business Institute to be Accredited with B++ Grade (84.3% Institutional Score) by NAAC, Bangalore, and recognised u/s 2(f) of the UGC Act.

Since its inception, B.K.M.I.B.A. has been dedicated to the cause of all round development and nurturing excellence among its students. The Institute, in its relatively short time of existence, has established itself as the topmost institute in the state among undergraduate management institutes. Students of this Institute have been securing 7 to 8 ranks including the first rank out of the top ten positions at the university examination consistently over the years at all the three levels – First Year, Second Year and Third Year B.B.A. The performance of students of this Institute in various exrtra-curricular and cocurricular activities at various state and national level competitions has been commendable.

This college is the first college established by the Ahmedabad Education Society (AES) in 1936. Shri Amritlal Hargovandas Sheth and Shri Tribhovandas Hargovandas gave a munificent donation in the sacred memory of their father to start this college.

The college has made significant contributions in the last seven decades since its inception and has earned a name for its high academic and disciplinary standard. The college has been at the forefront in practicing innovative teaching methods. Along with excellence in academics, H. L. College of Commerce lays strong emphasis on all round development. HL's examination results have always been excellent, around 99%, way above University results, and they have been rounded off with a spectacular haul of ranks, medals and prizes.

The tally of top ranks medals, prizes and scholarships bagged by First and Third year B. Com. students of HL during the last nine years on the strength of their performance at University examinations is a staggering 74.
