The Institute was set up as a tribute to the memory of Late Badri Prasad Poddar, philanthropist and educationist and the founder of the B.P.Poddar Group.

Post Graduate Disciplines (MCA)
Graduates seeking admission to Master of Computer Application course are required to qualify in the Joint Entrance Examination for Computer Application (JECA) conducted by West Bengal Board of JEE. Admissions are based on the recommendations made by the Central Selection Committee.
Undergraduate Engineering Disciplines (B.Tech.)
Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary (10+2) examination of the Council of Higher Secondary Education, West Bengal or any equivalent examination from a recognized Board/University are required to qualify in the West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WB-JEE) conducted by the West Bengal Board of Examination or All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE).
Other Undergraduate Disciplines (BBA and BCA)
The candidates who have passed (10+2) examination are required to qualify in the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by West Bengal University of Technology (WBUT). Applicants will be admitted on the basis of the recommendations by WBUT.
