Administration Policy
(M.Tech. Programme CAD/CAM, Full Time)
The eligibility criteria is 55% marks in B.Tech. from PTU or its equivalent in Mechanical/ Industrial/ Production/ Manufacturing/ Welding/ Material Science/ Metallurgy. The admission will be based on merit of average marks of 8 semesters of B.Tech. degree. The GATE qualified candidates will get preference. The distribution of seats is as under:
General : 10
Sponsored : 05
SC/ST : 03
The candidate seeking admission to sponsored category must submit a sponsorship certificate from his/her employer. All candidates must attach a character certificate from the institution last attended, photocopies of B.Tech. Degree/DMC and three passport size photographs.The fee and other charges are as prescribed by PTU and as applicable from time to time. The fee and other charges once deposited are not refundable/transferable.

Admission is done on the basis of CET merit for the 85% Punjab State Quota and on the basis of AIEEE merit for the 15% other States' Quota. 2/3% seats are filled through the central counseling conducted by PTU, while 1/3% management quota seats are filled by the college. In addition to the statutory reservations made by the government, the college has reservation for rural area candidates as well as for Sikh minority community students. The statutory reservations are given in detail in the PTU Information Brochure.
A.) Rural Reservation
Overall 70% seats shall be filled by the students hailing from rural area in Punjab. Rural area means area located outside the limits of Municipal Corporation, Municipal Committee, Notified Area Committee, Cantonment Board, Township & University campus. A student hailing from rural area means:
* His/Her parents are permanently residing in the rural area as defined above.
* He/She has studied for a minimum period of 5 years from a recognized/affiliated school located in rural area.
* He/She has passed 5/8/10 or 10+2 from a school/ college located in rural area. Sons/Daughters of Defence Personal/ Ex-Defence personal residing permanently in rural area exempted from clause (ii) & (iii).
B) Management Quota
As per Government of Punjab Notification No.13/129/2003-1TE2/1030 dated 5.4.2004, there is “Management Quota†to the tune of 1/3% (one third of the total seats). Out of the “Management Quota†a maximum of 5% of the total sanctioned seats shall be filled from amongst Non-Residing Indian (NRI)/ Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)/ Foreign National Students and other related categories, in accordance with the procedure stipulated in the PTU Information Brochure . The Management shall fill these seats in accordance with the following order of preference:
* Merit in Common Entrance Test-2009
* Merit in All India Engineering Entrance Examination (AIEEE).
* Marks secured in the qualifying examination.
For admission to these seats an advertisement will be published in leading newspapers (English and Punjabi) in due course of time. The fee for “Management Quota seats shall be the same as for “State Quota Seats.
