Dear Akansha, If you are raelly intrested to learn music and beocme preffessional in that feald. I will suggest you to join Vishva Bharti University at Shantineketan West Bengal. A candidate who has passed the H.S. (10+2) examination or its equivalent not before 2006, is eligible to seek admission to the 1 st year of the 3-year B.A. / B.Sc./ B.Com. (Hons. / General / Major) or B.Mus. (Hons. / Genl.) Courses of studies provided he/she has also passed in English having full marks of not being less than 100, subject to fulfillment of other conditions as laid down in the Notification No. C.S.R./20/08 dated 20.05.08(Comprehensive Admission Regulations).

For the purpose of determining eligibility for admission to the Honours Course, aggregate marks obtained at the last qualifying examination shall be calculated by adding the marks in top-four subjects in order of marks secured by a candidate. However, marks in Compulsory Environmental Education/Studies shall not be taken into account for calculation of aggregate of marks (if the subject Environmental Science is studied as an elective subject of 100 marks, may be taken into account for the purpose of determining the aggregate marks).
3. A Candidate taking up Honours Course in a Subject must have obtained:
1. A minimum of 45% marks in the aggregate and 45% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination. Or
2. 50% marks in the subject or related subject at the previous qualifying examination. Or
3. 45% marks in aggregate when the candidate has not studied in his/her previous qualifying examination provided all other clauses are satisfied, on the basis of the selection test.

(a) However, Candidates belonging to the Schedule Caste or Schedule Tribe community taking up Honours Course of Study must have obtained a minimum of 40% marks in the aggregate or 40% marks in the subject or related subjects at the previous qualifying examinations, as the case may be.

MUSIC AS ONE OF THE COMBINATION (GENERAL) SUBJECT is offered to the desired Candidates of B.A. / B.Sc. degree course of any College affiliated to the Calcutta University.

The Bengal Music College was established in the year 1940 by the selfless service of the founder Principal Late Nanigopal Bandyopadhyay and valuable services of Late Manindra Chandra Chakraborty and Late Kshitish Chandra Bandyopadhay. Next Year is going to be the birth cententery of the founder Principal Late Nanigopal Bandyopadhyay.
In the year 1956 Bengal Music College was affiliated to the University of Calcutta under the initiation of the founder Principal Late N.G Bandyopadhyay. This College has distinguished itself as a pioneer in the field of music education in West Bengal. The record of its development now spans over a few decades during which a potent concept had considerable impact on the educational & Cultural life of West Bengal and the college showed a spectacular progress in the field of teaching music overcoming all the advertise and problems.
Music as Elective subject of B.A. / B.Sc. Degree course and B. Mus. (Pass) have been continuing for the last four decades. The Fine Arts and Music Faculity of the Calcutta University accorded their permission to introduce 3 years B. Mus. Honours Degree Course and the Higher Education Department also favoured us by according sanction to start said Honours course from the academic session 1995-96. 2 years B. Mus. Special Honours Course has also been introduced in this institution, w.e.f the academic session 2000-01.
The faculty council for Post Graduate studies in Fine Arts Music and Home Science, Calcutta University has accorded their permission to introduce Master of Music course in our college from the academic session 2003-04.
We express our heartfelt gratitude to our former President Sri Somnath Chatterjee Bar - at - law for his active co-operation towards implementation of the Honours course in this college.
We also express our heartfelt gratitude to our formar President Sri Naranarayan Gooptu Bar - at - law for his sincere effort towards implementation of the Post graduate course in Music in this college.
We convey our hearty thanks to Dr. Utpala Goswami, Ex-Principal of the college for taking active part towards introduction of Post-graduate course in Music in this college.
