The criteria of admission into degree classes are determined by the Admission Board of the college within the framework of the rules of University of Calcutta.
Rules for Admission
A. Collection of Admission Forms
Printed applications forms and Prospectus are available from the College office at a price fixed by the college from time to time on production of original Mark-Sheet of the last qualifying examination.
B. Submission of Admission Forms for Merit List
a) Duly filled in forms should be submitted to the College office within the stipulated dates and time.
b) Application forms must be accompanied by the photocopies of the following documents:
i) Mark-Sheet of the last qualifying examination.
ii) Admit card of Madhyamik or equivalent examination (For Age proof).
iii) SC/ST certificate, if applicable.
iv) Photocopy of Migration Certificate of student coming from other Board / Council.
C. Requirements of Direct Admission
a) Three recent passport size photographs (unsigned and unattested).
b) Original and Photocopies of mark-sheets of all previous examinations.
c) Original and Photocopy of Admit Card of the Madhyamik or equivalent examination (for Age Proof).
d) A pass-certificate from the head of the institution last attended.

Original photocopy of SC/ST certificate (if applicable) from appropriate authority.
f) A student seeking admission after a break in study shall submit a certificate from a responsible person to the effect that he/she had not been admitted to any other college in the intervening period following his/her last final examination and that his/her conduct had been satisfactory. Student seeking admission to the 2nd or 3rd year class after such a break in studies shall apply to the University through the Principal for condonation of the break.
g)
As per the circular of C.U., Ref. no. DRSCT/165/2000/6[A] dt.01.06.2000, there shall be a reserved quota of 22% and 6% [=28%] for SC
The family members of Late Charuchandra Chottopadhyay, following Charuchandra's spirit of social work, came forward to assist in this noble task. The college was founded on 1st October 1947, with Dr. S. N. Ray as the first Principal and is housed in its present premise at 22 Lake Road, Kolkata 700029.
The abiding motto of Charuchandra College is ALTIO RAPETO - I SEEK HIGHER LIFE. This motto is achieved not merely in rhetorical terms that reiterates a zealous spirit, but real-life manouevres, aimed at the all-round physical and mental growth of students, by mingling knowledge of science with society.
This co-educational college started with courses in Intermediate Arts and Science and Degree Arts. Presently, the college runs Honours and General Courses in English, Bengali, Political Science, Economics, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Botany, Zoology. Besides, the institution also runs General Courses in Education, Philosophy, History, Statistics and Journalism & Mass Communication. The college has introduced B. Com. Honours and General courses exclusively for girls, in Morning Section since August 2002.
