The Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) is an elite engineering and technology school located in Chennai (formerly Madras) in southern India. It is officially recognized as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India and is regarded as one of the finest engineering institutions in India. Founded in 1959 with technical and financial assistance from the Government of the erstwhile West Germany, IIT Madras was third among currently ten Indian Institutes of Technology (including 3 new IITs at Hyderabad, Patna and in Rajasthan) established by the Government of India through an Act of Parliament, to provide world-class education and research facilities in engineering and technology. IIT Madras, is one among the foremost of institutes of national importance in higher technological education and in basic and applied research. In 1956, the German Government offered technical assistance for establishing an institute of higher education in engineering in India. The first Indo-German agreement in Bonn, West Germany for the establishment of the Indian Institute of Technology at Madras was signed in 1959.

you can take admission for that you have to pass entrance exam.
The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) is a common admission test for candidates seeking admission to the B.Tech programme. It is conducted by all the seven IITsin the month of April every year. Candidates who have secured 60% (5% relaxation for SC/ST/PD) marks in aggregate in their respective board examination are eligible for the test. The JEE will be a single objective type examination which will test the comprehension and analytical abilities of students. For more details refer to the JEE brochure.

The Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) is an all India Examination conducted by all the IITs and IISc to identify meritorious and motivated candidates for admission to Post-graduate programmes in Engineering, Technology, Architecture and Pharmacy at National level.Information relating to GATE will be available through the announcements link and the GATE Brochure.

for admission in mba there is an entrance exam called The Joint Management Entrance Test (JMET) is a common admission test for candidates seeking admission to the MBA programme at all the IITs and IISc. However, the candidates will have to apply separately to each IIT and IISc as per their choices.
