The College was established as Nagarjuna Sagar Engineering College in 1965 by the Government of Andhra Pradesh. When the college was under the administrative control of the Department of Technical Education, it was affiliated to Osmania University, Hyderabad. With the formation of Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University on 2nd October 1972, it became a constituent college of the University and was later renamed as JNTU College of Engineering, Hyderabad. From its inception in 1965 to 1984, the College was located at Masab Tank Campus. In 1984, the College was shifted to its permanent location at Kukatpally, a 100 acres site, about 20 km from the heart of the City, on Bomay National Highway (NH-9). The activities of the college are basically supported by the budgetary allocation from the University funds. Specific grants from different funding agencies like UGC, MHRD, AICTE, DST are also sought from time to time for the development of the college. The College has purchased modern and sophisticated equipment worth about 20 crores from the research and development grants received from MHRD, AICTE, DST and TEQIP (A World Bank-aided Project). The college celebrated its Silver Jubilee in 1990.

This is for normal students
The admission to regular B.Tech and B.Pharm. Programmes are made based on the merit secured in Engineering, Agricultural and Medical Common Entrance Test (EAMCET) conducted by A.P. State Council for Higher Education.
Similarly, admission to B.Tech (For three tear Diploma Holders) is based on the merit secured in the Engineering Common Entrance Test (ECET) conducted by the A.P. State Council for Higher Education. The diploma holders successful in ECET are also eligible for admission into regular B.Tech. courses, at Second Year level. JNTU conducts an ntrance examination of B.Tech. (Correspondence-cum-Contact Course) for admitting employed Diploma Holders of Engineering.

Admission of foreign students into JNTU exclusively shall be handled by DUFR of the University. As such all correspondence should be addressed to the Director, Directorate of University Foreign Relations, JNT University, Hyderabad-500 085, INDIA. International students are advised not to apply to the colleges directly
International students can start applying for Provisional Admission into UG or PG programs of the University from any time till July 30th of the year. Applications will be considered on a first-come-first- served basis
After scrutiny of the applications for eligibility, the University will issue a'Provisional Admission Letter' for the purpose of obtaining VISA from Indian Consulate/Embassy, a'Student Visa' or'Research Visa' as the case may be that must be endorsed to Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad and without which no admission can be made.
After obtaining the'StudentVisa'endorsedtoJawaharlalNehruTechn ologicalUniversity,Hyderabadth e student must send a written confirmation of the acceptance of the course to the Director, Directorate of University Foreign Relations, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, A.P, India.
The student shall report to the Director, Directorate of University Foreign Relations, DUFR in person and produce original certificates and on payment of necessary fee they may obtain the"Firm Letter of Admission". With the firm letter of admission, the student shall report to the concerned College of Unit to join the program.

My son completed Intermediate 2nd year with M.P.C. and got 94% marks, and also appeared eamcet 2010 and qualified, he needs to join Aeronautical engineering course with your college, so, please inform me about the period of course and total fees with hostel facility.

The infrastructure development in the past two decades in the college has been substantial. After shifting to the new campus in 1984, the Civil and Mechanical Engineering block and Hostel blocks for boys and girls were added. Subsequently Computer Science and Engineering, Metallurgical Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, separate Civil Engineering, Electronics & Communication Engineering and Library blocks were constructed. The college library consists of nearly 61,414 books, and about 126 Journals and 4000 on-line journals. It also subscribes to 50 Journals every year.

The College has a Campus Recruitment Cell. This cell organizes the campus interviews for the students of the College. The performance of the students in the campus recruitment has been very gratifying. On an average over 150 students get selected every year for positions in prestigious organisations like TCS, WIPRO Systems, IBM, Satyam Computers, ADAPTEC, AGILE and CMC. The Details of the campus recruitment for the last three years are furnished below. The students who got selected in campus recruitment have been well placed in India and abroad. They are the source of the pride and prestige of the college.
