Admission 2010

During the last two years, there have been several developments regarding a policy for admissions to different undergraduate engineering colleges in Orissa. Starting with the landmark judgement of the Supreme Court in the case of TMA Pai Foundation, there have been decisions in Islamic Academy and PA Inamdar.

Following the directives of the Supreme Court, different states of the country have made attempts to legislate both on the procedures of admission as well as on rational fixation of fee structure.

Govt of Orissa has made an attempt in form of an ordinance which was later converted to an Act, for setting up committees for finalising the policies regarding admission procedure and also to examine cases of individual engineering colleges to decide on rational fees to be charged by each of them. Although this Act has been struck down by the Orissa High Court as illegal in its present form, there has been a subsequent interim stay on this decision of the High Court, imposed by the Supreme Court.

In view of the above the State Govt has set up a Policy Planning Body (PPB) for deciding the admission policy and the second committee for fixing the fee-structure (FSC).

Admissions for 2010 are to be completed by JEE Counselling Committee of the State Government in the newly introduced e-counseling mode as detailed in www.odishajee.com.
