The New Delhi YMCA started Centre for Mass Media (CMM) in 1984 to conduct post-graduate diploma courses in Public Relations and Advertising and Journalism. The Centre was conceived and launched by Mr. Wilfred Lazarus, a reputed journalist who was then the President of YMCA. Mr Lazarus was formerly the General Manager of the now-defunct Samachar News Agency and the Principal Information Officer of the Government of India. In the past about 25 years this Centre has produced more than 5,000 media persons, many of whom occupy high positions in Public Relations, Advertising and Print and Electronic media organisations.
