Admission Process: As of other states, Himachal Pradesh do not have any entrance test, for admission into B.Ed. Each college provides admission according to their eligibility criteria. For almost all the colleges, there are the same eligibility criteria and you can find the same in this article. The admission to B.Ed course is done on the basis of merit at Himachal Pradesh University, Shimla by counseling.
Eligibility: The applicant should possess either a Bachelor’s Degree (Medical, Non-Medical, Arts/Commerce) or Master’s degree or any other qualification equivalent there to with at least 50% marks (45% in case of SC, ST, and Ex-serviceman categories) from a recognized university established by law in India.
Eligibility Exception: There shall be a relaxation of marks in favor of SC and ST candidates as per norms of the State Govt. and the NCTE. 45% in case of SC, ST, and Ex-serviceman categories
Age limit: The candidate should not be of more than 26 years (General Category boy candidates), 28 years (General category, girl candidates), 29 years (SC and ST candidates both boys and girls) of age, on 01.07.2010.
Method Subjects: English, Bio. Science, Physics, Chemistry, Math., Geography, History, Work Education, Computer Education are available and the offer of admission will be given as per availability of seats and subjects of the College concerned.
How to Apply:
Handbook of information containing admission forms can be had from the office of the Chairperson, Department of Education, H. P. University, Shimla on working days during office hours on payment of Rs.275/- at the counter and through registered post by sending crossed Indian Postal Order/Band Draft of Rs.325/- payable to Finance officer, H. P. University, Shimla, alongwith request for supply of prospectus by post be sent to the Chairperson, Department of Education.
Selection Process:
The admission to the course will be made strictly on the basis of marks obtained in B.A./ B.Sc./B.Com., Post Graduation examinations of any recognised university. Hundred percent of the seats in Deptt. of Education H.P.U. Shimla and Govt. College of Teacher Education Dharamshala are subsidized and roster of reservation will be applicable on all seats available in the respective institutions.
Allotment Process:
The allotment of the Colleges will be done through face to face counseling by a Central Committee Constituted by the Hon’ble Vice-Chancellor in the HPU auditorium. The allotment will be based on merit-cum preference. The Committee will make effort to allot College as per the preference subject to availability of the seat. Every student must check the Website of H.P. University. for date of counseling. The procedure for checking the website is given on the back side of Cover Page. After allotment the student is required to deposit a sum of Rs. 25,000/- at the time of counseling. Every candidate admitted in a self-financing college shall pay an amount of Rs. 2145/- and Rs. 3575/- for subsidized and non-subsidized seats as levy charges respectively to the University which will be realized by the College and sent to the Finance Officer, H.P. University Shimla. The charges are not refundable.

Duration of B.Ed Course: The Colleges offers One Year Secondary Teacher Education Programme known as B.Ed.
Fee for B.Ed Course: Fee for the various courses in Government/Aided colleges will be as fixed / approved by the Government, from time to time. The details of fee structure for the various courses will be published before the commencement of option registration.
