B.Ed Admission Process in Kerala

Entrance Exam: LBS Center for Science and Technology conducts an entrance test, namely, Kerala B Ed Entrance Exam

Eligibility: The candidate must have to posses B. Sc., B. A. or any other equivalence graduate degree from a recognized University in India with minimum of 45% aggregated marks.

Eligibility Exception: There shall be a relaxation of marks in favor of SC and ST candidates as per norms of the State Govt. and the NCTE.

Age limit: There is no upper age limit for admission to B. Ed. Courses.

Method Subjects: The optional subject for the B. Ed. course should be the same as the one, which the student has selected as main subject for graduation, or the main subject for graduation conventionally recognized to be coming under the optional chosen. In case, the main subject is different from or conventionally considered as not coming under the optional opted for admission, a copy of the Certificate from any of the Universities in Kerala, stating that such degree is eligible for admission to that optional for B. Ed. course, should be furnished along with the application.

How to Apply:

There is only a single application form for applying for admission to all the B.Ed courses in various Government/Aided/Self Financing Colleges. If a candidate submits more than one application his/her candidature is liable to be cancelled. Application forms (after remitting application fee vide clause 6.21) and Prospectus can be downloaded from the website www.lbscentre.org or www.lbskerala.com. There will be two type of application forms viz. for General Candidiates and for SC/ST Candidates. Candidates are advised to download the application form applicable to them. Application forms and Prospectus will not be available by post or from the Office Director of Collegiate Education or from the LBS Centres or from any other office.

Application Fee:

There will be separate application forms for ‘General’ and ‘SC/ST’ candidates. (A candidate who does not belong to SC/ST community will be treated as a ‘General’ candidate for this purpose)

The application fee will be as follows:

For General candidates: Rs.400/-

For SC / ST candidates: Rs.200/-

Categorization of seats: Seats available in B. Ed. colleges are mainly classified as Merit Seats and Management seats.

(a) Merit Seats: The seats that are to be filled by the State in Government/ Aided/Self Financing colleges are classified as ‘Merit Seats’.

(b) ‘Management seats’: The seats in Aided and Private Self-financing Colleges that are to be filled by the concerned Managements are classified as ‘Management seats’.

Allotment Process:

The Centralised Allotment Process for Government Seats in Government, Aided and Self Financing Colleges will be through a Single Window System (SWS). The allotment to various colleges and courses will be done by the Director, LBS Centre. The allotments will

be strictly based on the options exercised by the candidate, the rank lists prepared by the Director, LBS Centre for Science and Technology, eligible reservation(s) of the candidate and availability of seats.

Duration of B.Ed Course: The Colleges offers One Year Secondary Teacher Education Programme known as B.Ed.

Fee for B.Ed Course: Fee for the various courses in Government/Aided colleges will be as fixed / approved by the Government, from time to time. The details of fee structure for the various courses will be published before the commencement of option registration.
