ABOUT  IT:

Admission to the first year B.E/ B.Tech degree courses in Tamil Nadu is through the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (T.N.E.A) conducted by Anna University, Chennai. This test enables a candidate for admission into engineering courses in University Departments of Anna Universities, Government and Government Aided Engineering Colleges and for the seats surrendered by the Self Financing Engineering Colleges.

Eligibility Criteria:
Educational :
A pass in the HSC or its equivalent with a minimum average marks of 55.00% in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry put together or any other equivalent qualification with relevant subjects approved by the Higher Secondary Board of Tamil Nadu.

Eligibility for Marine Engineering Programme :
The candidate should pass in 10+2 or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English as a separate subject with a PCM average of not less than 60% for all communities.         Further a minimum of 50% in English either at 10th or at 12th standard is required.

Other Requirements : 
(i) Maximum age limit 25 years.
(ii) Minimum Height 157 cm.
(iii) Minimum Weight 48 Kg.
(iv) Normal Color vision
(v) Before selecting the course, the candidate should ensure that they are medically fit for the course. 
The candidates will be admitted only on production of physical fitness certificate obtained from the Medical Officer authorized by the Director General of Shipping failing which they will lose the admission.

For Mining Engineering Programme :

Only Male Candidates are eligible

Nationality :

Candidates belonging to Tamil Nadu only will be considered for admission. However  candidates of other states are also eligible under certain conditions. Foreign Nationals are not eligible.

APPLICATION PROCEDURE:

~ The selection of candidates will be on the basis of the marks obtained in the prescribed subjects in the qualifying examination.

~ The academic marks in the prescribed subjects will be reduced to 200. (Mathematics 100, Physics + Chemistry =100) which will be considered for Ranking. The qualifying is 12th board/HSC. The admission will be done on the basis of 12th board exam.

~ A merit list will be prepared based on the total marks of 200. In cases where more than one candidate have got the same marks in the common merit list, the inter-semerit among such candidates shall be determined in the order of priority as specified below.

(1) Percentage of marks in Mathematics
(2) Percentage of marks in Physics
(3) Percentage of marks in the fourth optional subject
(4) Date of Birth (elder will be given preference) and 
(5) Random number assigned (higher value will be given preference).

~ The overall rank and Community wise rank lists will be published in the web site of Anna University. No separate announcement will be made in the Newspapers. The candidates will also be informed of their rank individually by post through the counseling Call Letter. The college and the branch will be provisionally allotted only through counseling.

~ Candidates will be called for counseling in the order of their merit. Based on the merit and communal reservation, allotment of the branch/college chosen by the candidate will be made. Candidates have to opt for colleges and branches that are available at the time of counseling.

~Candidates seeking admission under Special Reservation (except Sports Quota) shall submit a separate Special Reservation form along with the main application by post or in person in the prescribed format available in “Information and Instructions to Candidates” with an additional fee in the form of a Demand Draft for each special reservation enclosing the relevant certificates.

~Candidates seeking admissions under Sports Quota are directed to submit their main application as well as special reservation form for Sports along with the documents and additional fee in the form of a Demand Draft.

4. Special Reservations
Candidates seeking admission under Special reservation category should enclose a    separate special reservation application along with the main application together with a DD for Rs.100/- for each special reservation with attested xerox copies of relevant documents. The applications under Sports Quota should be submitted along with all the documents only in person.

DURATION:

B.E. / B. Tech. course is of 4 Academic years comprising of 8 semesters.
B.E. (Sandwich course) is of 5 Academic years comprising of 10 semesters.
