Indore Management Institute in the only institute in central India which is having MBA-Pharma course. This course is specially designed for candidates having phrma back ground and wish to build their career in pharmaceutical industry. IMI is the first and only institute in Central India, Madhya Pradesh offering MBA in Pharmaceutical Management. The institute is equipped all the modern infrastructuere, state of the art facilities, experienced and qualified faculties from some of India's renowned institutions and international level of education.

MBA-Pharma is a general management course concentrating on Pharmaceutical Marketing Strategy, distribution, promotion, pricing, product and promotion -mix. All students have to do rigorous field work, analysis and reading in this course. This course is not meant for Bio-technology, clinical trials or Veterinarians. This course is for Science and Pharmacy Graduates. Doctors may apply for positions in the Pharmaceutical industry. Biotechnologists, Biochemists and Veterinarians may not find this course useful, though.

The distinct feature of the course is that the students undertake regular fieldwork and meet Doctors, Retailers, Stockiest etc. and work on special projects.

Program Objectives

The objective of this MBA Pharmaceuticals Management course is to develop students, over a period of two years, by rigorous fieldwork and academics, for Managerial positions in the Pharmaceutical industry. Students will spend 8 weeks summer internship with Pharmaceutical companies also.

Every month, one day is devoted to fieldwork in all semester involving visits to doctors, retailers, patients and wholesalers. In addition, students are required to devote at least 40 hours per week for academics. Opportunity exists for immersion studies abroad during summer internship.

PEDAGOGY

The entire programme is designed to meet with the student's understanding of the subjects, and includes deliverables such as classroom discussions, role plays, project work, case studies, presentations and lectures. Students are expected to attend all lectures in time. There is a dress code which students are required to adhere to.

The student is required to do field work every week, where he/she is expected to meet doctors, retailers, wholesalers and tabulate the data, analysis of data and prepare reports on the same. This once-a-month visit every semester totals 21 hours for the course, is rigorous, and requires a demanding physical and mental stamina on the part of the student to work and learn.

A communications course is included to supplement the students' skills, and provides them with the capacity to both comprehend and articulate managerial viewpoints with confidence.

Eligibility for Admissions in MBA - Pharma

The candidate must hold a Bachelor's Degree in Life Sciences, Pharmacy, Microbiology, Biotech, Medicine (MBBS) and allied subjects with at least 50% marks or equivalent CGPA in aggregate from any of the Universities incorporated by an act of the central or state legislature in India or other educational institutions established under section 3 of UGC Act, 1956, or possess an equivalent qualification recognized by the Ministry of HRD, Government of India.

The Candidates having 2 years of post qualification work experience will be preferred. Candidates appearing for the final year of bachelor's degree/equivalent qualification examination and those who have completed degree requirement and are awaiting results can also apply. But their admission will be subject to their fulfilling the eligibility norms as mentioned above.
