While the IIMs are definitely considered the BEST when it comes to Management education in India, it should be noted that not all IIMs are at thesame level in terms of Placements and popularity; (IIMA, IIMB, IIMC, IIML generally compete for the 1st three rankings) and there are a few other Institutes that deserve special mention in this series of articles as they find a place above a few of the IIMs, especially the recently inaugurated ones. Also facts like IIMs not being able to accommodate all the candidates seeking quality business education and some good Institutes providing MBA in niche areas make it all the more important to know more about them and the courses they offer. So, we are discussing some of them (which are CAT Allied) in this article, and a few others (whose admission criteria is independent of CAT) in the subsequent article:
1. FMS – Faculty of Management Studies, New Delhi:
FMS Delhi focuses on deep understanding of Business Management by encouraging initiative, novelty and out-of-the-box thinking. It has a great advantage of being affiliated to the University of Delhi and thereby has a collaborative approach of having inputs from some of the finest departments in Economics, Law, Sociology, Commerce and Operations Research, leading to a much wider view and deeper understanding. The various courses offered by the Institute are:
a) MBA Full Time - Selection to the FMS MBA FT course is done through a written exam which is usually held in the first week of December. Shortlisted candidates are then called for a Group discussion and Personal interview round. The final selection is based on the cumulative performance of the candidate in the written exam as well as the group discussion and personal interview round.

d) MBA HCA Part Time Selection to the MBA PT and MBA HCA course is done through a written exam. Shortlisted candidates are then called for Personal interview round, following which the final results are declared.

Placements: The entire 2009-11 batch, consisting of 203 students (a 30% increase from last year)distributed among the two full time programs MBA and MBA-Management of Services, was placed in style in reputed Global and Indian firms. 4. MICA-Mudra Institute of Communications, Ahmadabad:
