4% Fall in the Cut Off Released by DU

As the second Cut Off list has be released by the University of Delhi commonly known as DU, students who were looking for admissions in DU have breathed a sigh of relief as the percentage cut-off has been decreased by 0.25 to 4 % in the cut-off list of several courses, as compared to that of the first cut-off list that was published a week ago.

Nearly all the courses and programmes of all the popular colleges of Delhi University are now taking admissions and the fall in the cut offs for subjects like B.Com (H), Physics and Mathematics and Economics have given students a hope as these are some of the most popular course of DU. This dip in the second cut off list will help the candidates to get admissions the colleges of their choice via both campus and off campus admissions. Students and Colleges have stated that this is more realistic for a cut off list as compared to the first cut off list.

Almost all the colleges under Delhi University have invited admissions for the Economic (Hons) course and have set the cut offs around 95 % and above. SRCC failed to fill the seat of general category for the respective course and as  a result they had to decrease the cut off by 0.50 percent. The same issue was faced by one more popular college under Delhi University Kirori Mal College, which has also decreased the cut off by 0.75 percent.

B. Com (H) is also open for admission in several other colleges for the general category students, but the respective course did not figure in SRCC’s list of second cut off as well. Many other colleges where it is still open include Hindu, LSR, RAmjas, HansRaj, Gargi, Kirori Mal, Sri Aurobindo, Sri Venkateshwara, ARSD and Kamla Nehru among several other colleges.

The dip in the list of cut offs has been strongly felt in the North Campus colleges as colleges like Hindu, who have decreased the cut off list of subjects like Philosophy and BSc physical science and Chemistry by 3 percent points. A significant decrease in the cut off list by 2.5 percent for the first cut off list for BA programmes at the respective college. Colleges like Kirori Mal have also decreased the percentage in the cut off list for subjects like Mathematics and English by 1.5 and 1.25 percent respectively in the list of second cut offs.

One of the most popular and widely opted course like Physics from Science stream is still open for admission in approximately six colleges, which are registered under Delhi University.
