Once you get admission to the MBA programme with IGNOU by clearing the OPENMAT examination, it is important that you will have to complete the course within 8 years. Once the course is completed within this period, there will not be any requirement to apply for the course again. However, this opportunity will be given only once. If a student does not complete the course within another 8 years, which means 8+8=16 years, he/she will have to apply afresh and should also clear the OPENMAT test again. In such a case no credits will be transferred.

Those, who got admission to the management programmes through Direct Entry without taking up the OPENMAT Entrance Test, it is important to clear the entrance test, when he/she seeks for a fresh admission on the expiry of the stipulated period.

What are the rules associated with re-registration?

When a student re-registers, he/she will be permitted to register for utmost four courses in a semester for enabling them to register/re-register for appropriate combination of 21 courses for getting MBA degree in 5 semesters. However, once registered, the course should be completed within four semesters; otherwise, he/she will have to revalidate the registration by paying the appropriate fee of Rs.1500 per course. The validity of a course registered after the 7th year of initial admission would be appropriate brought down and this will make the allotted maximum duration of 8 years to remain unchanged.

Eligibility requirement to apply for Management programme with IGNOU:

  • Degree in any discipline with at least 50% of marks for general category candidates and 45% for reserved candidates and for those with 3 years of experience in managerial, supervisory or professional positions.
  • Even, professional degree holders with at least 50% of marks in ICWA/ICSI/LAW/CA/Enggineering
  • It is important that candidates must clear the OPENMAT Exam
  • There is no age limit for applying

About OPENMAT:

This entrance test for admission of students to the Management programmes offered by IGNOU is conducted two times in a year.

The score obtained by candidates in the OPENMAT examination will be valid only for the next two semesters and so candidates are recommended to apply within 2 semesters. For instance, if a candidate takes the OPENMAT Feb 2016, he/she can seek admission on the basis of this score until January 2016.

Course fee:

The MBA Programme in IGNOU consists of 21 courses and the course fee of Rs.1500 per course, which comes to a total of 31500 (21*1500). Result cards will be sent to candidates, who have appeared for OPENMAT examination and this result card will decide whether a candidate has qualified for admission to the programme or not.

This test is conducted for 200 marks with 30 marks for general awareness, 50 each for English language and quantitative aptitude and 70 for reasoning.

So, candidates are provided the opportunity to complete the MBA programme within 8 years. After these 8 years, they can reapply without the requirement of writing OPENMAT again. Additional 8 years are also allowed before reapplying fresh both for fresh admission and OPENMAT.

You should consider the fee structure and if you consider doing this course from other place except Dewas, you should consider hostel facilities, you shouldalso consider whether the subject in which you wish to continue this course is available in the college.
