Alternative Exams For M. Tech Admission Other Than GATE

When it comes to private colleges for M. Tech in India, the three south Indian states, namely; Karnataka, Tamil Nadu and Andhra Pradesh have well-established private engineering colleges. Also, many of these institutions are offering M. Tech courses for quite a long time with appropriate approval and reputation.

Entrance test:

Those looking for M. Tech admission believe that they do not have any other option other than taking up GATE examination. But, the relieving news is that this is not the only test and candidates interested in taking up this course in any part of India can take up the state level entrance test for admission to this course. Here are the details about the alternative examinations available for interested candidates:

TANCET:

This Tamil Nadu Common Entrance Test is conducted by Anna University for admission of students to the different colleges functioning under the university for admission to M. Tech and other PG courses. Even though, this is the state level test, students from other states can also apply for the seats reserved for all India candidates

Now, this test for admission to M. Tech is planned to be held on the 17th of May 2016.

PGCET:

The Post Graduate Common Entrance Test is conducted in the state of Karnataka by the Visvesvaraya Technological University for admission to different PG courses inclusive of M. Tech. Even though, first preference will be given to GATE holders, after allotment of seats to these candidates, 90% of seats are reserved for Karnataka state candidates, while 10% is reserved for non-Karnataka candidates on the basis of PGCET Score.

SRMGEET:

SRM University conducts this Graduate Engineering Entrance Test for admission of student to the M. Tech course. This entrance test is planned to be held on the 31st of May 2016 and the last date to apply for the same is 9th of May 2016. Registration is in process and candidates can now visit the website of the university to apply for the M. Tech course and SRMGEET Entrance Test.

VITMEE:

This entrance test is conducted by the VIT University for admission to the M. Tech and MCA courses

VITMEE:

This entrance test is conducted by the VIT University for admission to the M. Tech and MCA courses. It is conducted by the university in all major cities in India. Final selection of candidates will be on the basis of the rank secured by candidates in the entrance test followed by counseling. Even though, preference will be given for GATE holders, some percentage of seats is filled through VITMEE Score as well. For the year 2016, this test is planned to be held on the 6th and 7th of June and the application process is on until the 20th of May 2016 from the 25th of February 2016.

Apart from these admission tests, Cochin University of Science & Technology also offers admission to the different branches of M. Tech courses on the basis of DAT, which means Departmental Admission Test. In the absence of GATE qualified candidates, seats will be filled through DAT score. So, candidates who have failed to apply for GATE can apply for any of the above-mentioned tests.

You should consider the fee structure and if you consider doing this course from other place except Doda, you should consider hostel facilities, you shouldalso consider whether the subject in which you wish to continue this course is available in the college.
