Engineering Admission Process in Himachal Pradesh

A  combined pre-entrance test for admission is to 4 years BTech courses is conducted by NIT Hamirpur.. The exam is held usually in May/June at Himachal Pradesh University Campus, Shimla 5; NIT, Hamirpur; Govt. College, Hamirpur; Government College Dharmashala and GC Mandi. Payment Seats Candidates who fulfill the minimum eligibility conditions may apply to the college directly

Eligibility

Pass in 10+2 examination of HP Board of School Education or its equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Maths and English for General Seats; for Payment/NRI seats, candidate must have obtained 60% marks in the qualifying exam.

Examination Pattern

HP CPET exam comprises of objective type multiple choices questions which are asked from the subjects Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English.
As for the reservation of seats, it is SC- 15%, ST-7.5%, diploma holders 2 seats and teachers of Government Polytechnics situated in Himachal Pradesh 2 seats.

Admission Procedure : Application form along with brochure for CPET can be obtained from National Institute of Technology, Hamirpur-177005. Completed application with the requisite test fee should reach the institute by the notified date usually in April.

If a phase I test taker of oe other places is not satisfied his/her performance in the test or if a candidate has missed out to apply for NEET, he/she can apply for phase 2 exam, It is a second chance provided to aspiring candidates.
