Following the Regular BE or the B.tech course over the diploma courses here there is a big difference in the attitude of those having the regular B.tech and the lateral B.tech course. If the candidate has already completed diploma course and is pursuing the job then it is absolutely fine if he decides to pursue to study BE or B.tech parallely through part time or distance learning.
The organizations prefer the candidates with the regular education rather than the distance or the part time. For getting the job in MNCs the candidate should have 16 yrs of education which is not the case with the diploma.

The lateral entry is subject to prior education in the diploma with the respective specializations or Bsc with Maths as the subject in the first year or the second year or the third year. The lateral entry assumes that the candidate has already done his basic technical learning at his prior education here first year can be exempted and the candidate can be admitted to the second year directly.
Once after getting the degree the students from the streams will looks or the job and both will have equal offers in the market. Students who have a diploma degree might face problems in studying the B.tech degree as they would not have read the entire subject in detail.
Indian engineering education system provides the technical education that has little employability. In some states the curriculum for diploma will not allow them to study the engineering degree.
