Normally AIEEE exams are conducted for admission in Engineering, B.E./B.Tech and B.Arch/B.Planning in institutes like NITs, IITs, deemed universities and other government funded institutes. Here is the answer for the above questions.

Normally AIEEE exams are conducted for admission in Engineering, B.E./B.Tech and B.Arch/B.Planning in institutes like NITs, IITs, deemed universities and other government funded institutes. NRI candidates are also eligible to write the AIEEE exam. But, these NRI candidates wont be benefited by writing the AIEEE entrance.

The reason why NRI candidates wont be benefited by writing AIEEE is, NIT's and IIT's admit NRI students with DASA entrance. You can get the details of DASA from here http://www.way2college.com/dasa-information.htm

In some cases, for IIT's NRI's can also join IIT's with writing IIT-JEE entrance.

For Non-IIT’s and Non-NIT’s, they do not consider any entrance exam for NRI candidates. NRI's can get admission in these institutes directly from NRI quota. These NRI quota's are prescribed by their respective state governments. Normally the NRI quota for Non-IIT’s and Non-NIT’s would be around 15% for each branch.

In the other case, if there is no NRI quota in that institute, the institute gives admission to NRI’s through AIEEE.  And, if not AIEEE, with the state entrance test.

So, finally the conclusion is, AIEEE will be only useful to NRI's, when the Institute does not have NRI quota and when the institute take criteria for admission as AIEEE. If the NRI's want to get seat in NIT's or IIT's, they have to get admission through DASA. If the NRI's want the admission in Non-IIT’s and Non-NIT’s, they can admission through NRI quota, without going through any entrance.
