Maharashtra Common Entrance test (MH-CET) is now back with lot of changes. This time the entrance exam will be conducted online. The entrance exam is conducted for seeking admissions to MBA i.e Master if business and MMS i.e. Master in Management studies courses across Maharashtra, MH-CET was discontinued because of Common Management Aptitude test (CMAT). AICTE has now made mandatory for all the states to conduct the CMAT entrance.
As per the notification posted by the directorate of technical education Mumbai, MAH-MBA/MMS-CET will be held on March 15th and 16th 2014.There was a notice in which it was also written as 85% of the seats are reserved for the government/aided colleges and 65% seats reserved in non aided and minority colleges and the seats will be filled using the MH-CET Scores. The remaining seats will be filled by the CAT/CMAT/MAT/XAT Scores.
The pattern of the paper
Here the exam consists of 200 multiple choice questions and that has to be attempted in 150 minutes. Here there is no negative marking as well. The test covered the various other areas like Data Interpretation, Data Sufficiency, Quantitative ability, logical reasoning, visual reasoning, verbal ability and reading comprehension.
Most of the students who appear for the MH-CET come from the remote areas without any or little access to the computers and the internet. The exam syllabus is not clear as the DTE is yet to release the sample papers.
Here the candidates need to study the following topics to prepare for the CET entrance exam.
The topics and the expected number of questions.
1. Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension -The expected number of questions here are 50 to 53.
2. Quantitative ability, data suffiency and Data Interpretation- 45 to 48.
3. Analytical reasoning and puzzles-45 to 48.
4. Verbal and Non Verbal reasoning-30 to 32.
5. General Awarness-30 to 35.
In Quantitative ability,data suffiency and data interpretation prepare on the important topics like, HCF, LCM, Geometric progression, arthimetic progression, Time speed distance,probability, simple interest and compound interest, permutations and combinations and many more.
The topics on data suffiecny and data interpretation that you need to prepare are column graphs, bar graphs, line charts, pie charts, graphs representing area, Venn diagram etc should be prepared at the best.
In Analytical reasoning and the puzzles
Prepare well on the circular arrangements, the seating arrangements, direction sense, Venn diagram, deductions, statements and the conclusions.
Prepare more on analogy based questions, the series. This year one will be getting more questions on these topics.
In order to get good score in General Awarness section keep updated on the topics like current affiars ,the business,economic,politics,International Events and the social events.
DTE has also not announced the dates of registration or the selection criteria. last time the entrance paper had GD-PI rounds. Here as per the sources the official notification should be out in January 2014.
