The Eligibity Criteria for CAT 2016 Entrance Exam

CAT 2016 is all set to be conducted on November 16th and November 22nd 2016 this year. The registration process for the CAT Entrance is on and will continue till September 30th 2016.

To apply for the test the candidates must fulfill the eligibilty criteria.

Any candidate who holds a bachelor degree in any discipline with minimum of 50% marks or its equivalent CGPA from any university recognised as a deemed university under the section 3 of the UGC Act,1956. The minimum marks for the candidates belonging to the SC, ST and persons with Disabilty, differntly able category are 45%.

For those candidates who are awarded with the grades or the CGPA instead of marks from their universities their grades or the CGPA will be converted to the marks based on the procedure certified by the university or the institution from where candidates have obtained the degree.

Final year students or those candidates who have appeared for their final years exams and are waiting for the results can also apply for the test.

It is mandatory for those candidates to submit their final year result before June 30th 2016.

List of Equivalent Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering/Technology (4 years after 10+2/Post B.Sc./Post Diploma ) or B.E/B.Tech equivalent examinations, of Professional Societies, recognized by MHRD/UPSC/AICTE (e.g. AMIE by Institution of Engineers -India, AMICE by the Institute of Civil Engineers India).

Any Qualification recognized by Association of Indian Universities New Delhi, which is equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree awarded by UGC recognised University/Institutions.

Cases not covered above equivalency certificate to be produced from Association of Indian Universities New Delhi.

You should take branch according to your interest, if you have interest in software or programming choose computer science, if you have interest in machines, choose mechanical, etc, some good engineering colleges are Royal College Of Engineering & Technology-Kanchipuram ; Arignar Anna Institute Of Science & Technology ; K.C.G. College Of Technology ; S.R.R. Engineering College
