XAT is a management aptitude test that assesses basic DI, Quant, Verbal, GK and analytical skills. Aspirants need to get the minimum percentile cut off in each section. The scores are accepted by a number of institutes such as XLRI, XIMB, GIM, XIME and SP Jain Mumbai.

 

If the candidate is been preparing for the CAT Exam, cracking XAT 2015 should not be that difficult. The syllabuses of both the exams are pretty much similar except for general awareness section and essay writing.

How to prepare for the XAT 2015 at last minute

1. Mock Tests

Mock Tests are a great way to estimate strengths and weakness. Keep attempting at least two mock exams per week. Analyze these tests and solve your mistakes. Then try to attempt the mock test again this time without a timer.

2. Brush up basics

XAT syllabus is not that different from CAT. So if you have already appeared for the CAT 2014 exam, simply brush up the basics in DA, Quant and verbal. Do stress more on Decision Making section for XAT. Solving about 10 to 15 questions from each topic.

3. Pen and Paper exam

Don’t forget that XAT is a pen-paper based exam. Most of the management entrance tests are now online or computer based such as CAT and CMAT. So though the preparation strategy doesn't change much for XAT, shift to pen and pencil mode while practicing in the last month. This will help fine tune the exam strategy.

4. General Awareness

Last year we saw questions covering a wide spectrum – starting from Nobel Peace Prize to the Governors of the RBI to the number of officially recognized languages, car manufacturers and their country of origin, etc. So, best way to prepare for GK is to follow the current news and also study static GK. Keep reading the daily newspaper and business magazines.

5. Essay writing

Essay writing is a crucial part of XAT.  It cannot be built in a day or a month. It’s a skill that is acquired with regular practice. Aspirants should focus on expressing the thoughts in a structured form rather than focusing on big words. . Accuracy and Exam strategy

Improvise on your exam strategy in the last month of preparation. Revise your previous mock tests and work out the weak areas. XAT 2015 is going to be more of an accuracy test. Keep in mind the negative marking and choose the questions carefully.
