Career Options after 12th Arts, Science and Commerce
In our earlier series of articles we have mentioned about the careers in the scholastic disciplines and also about different types of vocational courses. All these scholastic disciplines and vocational courses are really numberless. The most commonly chosen fields in the technical fields are architecture and engineering fields. The students must not be waylaid by their family or friends towards those courses for which they are not fit enough.
In many cases it is found that conspicuous courses are chosen or driven towards by their family or friends without considering the negative consequences. There are other occasions also when a too ambitious student choose a course which is really beyond his or her capacity or not fitting to the inherent acumen of the student.
Career counsellor to help you in these indecisive moments
When you are at your school, you must consult your career counsellor. All most all reputed schools have a special cell to look after the counselling requirements of the students. Since school level counselling is the best guiding factor, the students get maximum career related ideas & guidance and thus remain sure and confident about their future career.
What about Bachelor of Arts as your career?
If you are studying Arts or Humanities as your career, you are really exposed to different types of juicy future as your career. The serious students in this stream of studies can take up foreign language(s) and get the opportunity of becoming an interpreter in different embassies and consulates.
Which are the foreign languages you can opt for as an Indian?
Among the foreign languages, French, Russian, Japanese, Spanish, German or Chinese are the most sought after. You must not make a mistake that many other languages are there but English is considered as the 2nd language in our country. That means other than your mother tongue; you must be well versed in English to be counted among the educated persons.
What about preparing for State or National Civil Cervices examinations?
If you have dreams of serving your state or country as the civil servant, you can show your forte by taking tests of many civil services examinations.
What about other public & private sectors jobs?
Many public & private sectors offer jobs exclusively to those who have outstanding academic records. The aspiring candidates need to sit for different competitive exams for being qualified in these sectors.
What are the other job prospects for the Arts or Humanities students?
The other career opportunities for these bachelors can be in the fields like mass communication, advertising, journalism, media studies, performing arts, business management, tourism & travel, retail management and many more.
The above guidelines are not exhaustive for the Humanities or Arts bachelors, because the sincere and dedicated persons are always in demand for every business or industry. Having said all these above, you can always remain assured that you are going to contribute to the nation in the same manner which your other peer groups from other streams are contributing. It may also be in your case that you are one of the mostly recognised personalities in your field, while your other friends in other profession are still trying to make a niche in their fields. It is also true that many even struggle to come to terms with their “own high sounding job lives”.
