Parkash Singh Badal, chief minister of Punjab approved new curriculum and various courses under skill development in several streams. These new courses and curriculum will be offered to approximately 15000 youths in Punjab annually. Badal granted permission for the respective curriculum for skill development while he was presiding over a meeting for skill training courses for youths who are unemployed and teaching additional skills to the youth who is already employed in various different streams which include allied farming, construction, health care, paramedics, agriculture and horticulture.
The secretary of Technical Education has also been instructed by the Chief Minister to arrange premium training agencies to upgrade the basic structure of forthcoming Multi-Skill Development Centers also referred to as MSDCs located in Ludhiana, Amritsar, Bhatinda, Jalandhar and Hoshiarpur. The total capacity of these centers is approximately 7,500 trainees.
Parkash Singh Badal was also told that three more centers for skill development for streams like health development and paramedics are being established in medical colleges (government) of Amritsar, Faridkot and Patiala. These respective centers have an intake capacity of approximately 1200 trainees annually.trainees.
The forthcoming construction and building skill development centers in Mohali, Amritsar and Jalandhar can cater around 4,800 trainees per year for training.
The Punjab Agricultural University also referred to as (PAU), Ludhiana will train around 900 youths in various different streams like horticulture, mushroom cultivation, landscaping, bee-keeping and gardening. The main focus of this entire training is to promote the program of diversification in agriculture.
According to the needs of various local industries, approximately 10,000 workers will be trained specifically in the initial phase so that their skills can be upgraded in an effective and result oriented manner.Permission to provide training to workers employed in various factories to enhance their skills on the site itself has also been granted by the CM. While several initiatives are being taken by various different sectors for the promotion of skill development, the state government itself is all set to provide training to around 14,400 youths under the ambitious program, which will kick start from 2016.
The various departments who are associated with the training and skill development programs are instructed by the CM to arrange accommodation for the trainees and make sure that the skill development program is carried out efficiently..
