Post-Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship:

With a view to achieve and to promote the education of girls, the University Grants Commission has introduced the Post-Graduate Indira Gandhi Scholarship for Single Girl Child. As the name of this aid very well denotes, it is for parents with a single girl child, and also it is for the girl to continue her PG course. The value of this scholarship is Rs.2000 per month for a period of 10 months for the full duration of the PG course, which means for two years. Eligibility and how to apply:

As mentioned earlier, the girl applying for this financial aid must be a single girl child for the family. If the parents have one girl child and one boy, the girls will not be eligible for this scholarship. The applicants must have passed their higher secondary with a minimum of 426 out of 500 in case she is from the science background, 412 in the case of commerce background and 351 for girls from other branches. In addition, her family income should not exceed Rs. 6 lakhs per annum and she should be more than 21 years of age to apply. She must have taken full-time admission to regular PG course first year in any recognized institution or university. This is applicable only for girls at their PG first year. Application for this scholarship should be made online.

Swami Vivekananda Scholarship:

This is yet another popular financial assistance among the many scholarships for girls available in India. This is also offered by the University Grants Commission, and this aid is also applicable just for single girl child in the family. It is offered only for girls, who are pursuing their regular full-time Ph. D course in Social sciences from a recognised university/institution.

Eligibility and how to apply:

The applicant should be a single girl child for the family, and she should have got full-time admission to Ph. D course in social sciences. Also, the age of the applicant should not be more than 40 years in the case of general category and 45 in the case of reserved category. Application for this monetary aid should be submitted online, and notification for this scholarship is generally made during the month of October or November each year.

UGC Scholarship for Single Girl Child

CBSE Scholarship scheme for Single Girl Child:

The main aim of this scholarship offered by the Central Board of Secondary Education is to recognise the efforts made by parents in promoting education to their single girl child. Also, it is seen as an encouragement to meritorious girls.

Eligibility:

This scholarship for those girls, who have completed their Class X with a minimum of 60 percent mark or 6.2 CGPA and continuing their higher education in Class XI and XII. It will be offered only for girls studying in schools with less than Rs.1500 per month as tuition fee and it is applicable only for Indian national girls. The financial assistance will be provided for Class XI initially, and after this year, it will be renewed based on the marks secured by the candidates in Class XI and it should not be less than 50% aggregate to take it to the second year. The amount is Rs.500 per month.
