Scholarships for higher studies from Japan

Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA)

An agreement between Govt. of India and Govt. of Japan facilitates many ambitious students for obtaining scholarships for studying PhD in Japanese Universities.

The main objectives of the scholarships

The main objectives of this scholarship is to widen the World-Class Research Network among IITH, Industrial clusters of Japan, Higher Educational institutes etc. The further objective of this scholarship is to establish research and educational excellences towards futuristic Engineering, Technology and Science.

Project duration

The duration of this scholarship project is 2015-2016 Financial Year. The successful students can finish their study by 2020.

Eligibility

i)                    Indian Citizen

ii)                  When reaching Japan for pursuing the study, the student’s age bracket will be minimum 20 and maximum 30, as on 1st April of that academic year. In some cases the course/university may have some restrictions, which needs to be prioritized.

iii)                The eligibility does not get extended to any military personnel.

iv)                 The overall goal of the project must be understood by all applicants.

v)                   Any applicant, recipient of any other international scholarship or foreign assistance will not be entertained.

vi)                 The applicant should be very sound in health & mind

vii)               The level of English proficiency should be high enough to study in Japan

viii)             Any graduate or pass out of IIHT (japan).

Financial assistance to be expected

The financial assistance in the form of scholarships will be Living Allowance, Tuition Fees, Airfare, other allowance that include Insurance that concord with the JICA’s regulation.

Procedure of Application

Step 1

A)       Application to be downloaded from http://friendship.iith.ac.in/wp-content/uploads/2015/02/Application-Form-for-2015-JICA-FRIENDSHIP-IITH-students_rev.doc

B)       Duly filled application should be submitted to cholarship@friendship.iith.ac.in

C)       The data file should be either in PDF or in Doc format to be submitted to scholarship@friendship.iith.ac.in

Step 2

A hard copy of the same should be submitted through post to :- Miki Matsuo (Ms.) Project Coordinator / Industry-Academia Collaboration Coordinator, JICA Friendship Project, Postal Address: #147, Lavender Block, L&T Serene County, Urdu University Rd., Telecom Nagar, Gachibowli, Hyderabad, Telangana, INDIA 500032 (February to April is the period frame of submission of application).

Step 3

(April to May is the period frame of submission of successful application to the University). The successful applicants to have completed step 1 and step 2 are asked to submit the applications direct to the university.

In furtherance, the University guides the student towards interview or examination being held in Japan. For attending this interview, expenses like Accommodation, travel cost and such like is borne by the JICA.

Step 4

Notification from JICA will allow a student to submit the application to the administration.
