Bachelor of Mass Media and Mass Communication (BMMMC) is one among the most sought after courses in these days. Various types of “media-personalities” are the very crazy terms for many ambitious students. This course is one of the most ambitious and glamorous courses under Delhi University and offered only in the ICW (Indraprastha College for Women).

Eligibility for BMMMC

There is no bar of streams in getting admissions to this course, but the minimum percentage of aggregate score in the +2 level is 60 %.

What are the main considerations for the college?

The selection authority of the college expects a candidate must obtain best marks in 3 academic subjects, English being one of them. In case of any shortfall while calculating the aggregate, a candidate has to secure best marks in 2 academic subjects and in one vocational subject.

The craze for the course

The students’ craze for this course is found everywhere; however, the college authority prefers to give admissions to only those candidates who have general awareness, good English and creativity.

The screening process:

The aptitudes of a candidate are mainly screened through different screening processes. (A) A test is conducted for first round of aptitude test and (B) the successful candidates from the first test are to clear their writing skill tests. Since the course is loved by many, the competitiveness of the test is rather tougher.

Course contents

The course contents were developed with much care and consultations with experts and media professionals. The students are specially prepared for electronic media. The three year duration course is divided into 6 semesters.

1st year: - (2 semester)

i)                    Functional Hindi & English;

ii)                  Psychology of communication

iii)                History

iv)                 Political Science

Students are also to make radio program and short video in this academic year.

2nd year:-

i)                    Photography

ii)                  Film editing

iii)                Advertising

iv)                 Radio & print journalism

3rd year:-

i)                    4 week internship with media organizations

ii)                  Students are to make a thirty minute long film in the institute’s well equipped studio

iii)                Recently, the college authorities are planning to introduce a new program in the existing curriculum. The students are to take an exam on Corporate Communications and New media Communications.

The institute’s, (ICW (Indraprastha College for Women)) BMMMC covers not only B.A. Honours Journalism that focuses mainly on print media, rather almost all areas of Mass Media.

Many of the pass outs of this institute are the TV Anchors, Script writers, and producers. Many other alumnus of this institute are glittering with or to say shouldering the responsibilities like editors in Theatre, Public relations, Advertising, radio, newspaper editing and many such professions.

Both NEET and AIPMT are conducted for admission to MBBS and BDS Courses, NEET is national level test, while AIPMT is conducted by CBSE for admission to these courses in government medical and dental colleges of all places including Jharsuguda
