People working in journalism sector have proved that pen is mightier than the sword. Every day, many events are happening around the world – cultural, natural, historical, political, social, educational, etc. We get knowledge of all these events only sitting in our houses. Providing information to the large crowd at the same time, How is that possible? It is through mass communication only, but for this, someone has to gather information and present it, and this is the main aim of journalism. It includes investigating, analyzing and presenting local as well as world events.

Journalism deals with distribution of news with the help of newspapers, magazines, regional dailies, the electronic medium, websites and for government & public sector publications. There are various top journalism colleges in India which provide journalism course. There are various jobs available for candidates who have done journalism as a degree and wanted to make journalism as a career.

Field Work:

Desk Work:

Desk work basically deals with the office job.Sub-editors and editors write the stories in the form of presentations with the headlines. Writing the news and reporting is the basic responsibility of the editors department.

The team of Newspaper office has editors, subeditors, correspondents, reporters, special reporters, journalist, photojournalist, etc.

Editors:

The Editors plan the content and supervise its preparations. The basic job of the administrative office of editors is they hire the writers, they plan the budgets, they negotiate the contracts with the freelance writers, etc.

Associate or assistant editors: Associate editors or assistant editors will have the responsibility of particular subject like such as sports, international news, education, careers, family, etc.

Sub-editors: Sub-editors here have to give the final shape to the story submitted by the reporter. The responsibility also includes editing, reformatting and following all the general policy of the newspapers.

Reporters and correspondents:

They prepare stories about the local state, National state, and foreign states. Correspondents are based on the major cities and other countries to make stories on the main new events occurring at these locations.

Freelance journalist:

They write the article independently, and they get paid for each and every article they write.

Magazine journalism:

Magazine journalism involves the work related to researching, interviewing and stimulating writing.

Other people involved in this profession are the cartoonist, artist, and photojournalist.

Cartoonist prepares the sketch on political and cultural events.
Artists are specialized in maps and charts to illustrate data work in this medium.
Photojournalist provides photographs which cover or tell a story or illustrating an event.
