Test Procedure of Common Entrance Test (CAT) – 2014

Common Entrance Exam (CAT) is one of the management entrance exam conducted for the admission of management courses in IIMs and other top B-Schools across India for the academic year 2015-16. Common Entrance Test (CAT) will be conducted in the month of October every year.

The test is conducted to test the ability of the students analytical and communication skills. The test consists of data interpretation skills, Verbal ability, Quantitative ability and logical reasoning to test the students that they are eligible for the Business Administration Course.

Any Graduate is eligible to attend this Entrance Test for the Management Programmes offered by IIMs. Preparation for the test requires minimum of three to four months of duration.

Students can get the more information through online tutorials and study materials provided by many online sites to help the students who are appearing for the CAT 2014 test. And it too helps in increasing the student confidence level, so that they can attend the test without any fear. One should have to work hard to attend this exam to get passed and to get admission in to management courses offered by IIMs.

The test will be held 2 days in 354 Centre’s across India. Students can choose the exam centre’s within the given options which is nearest to them.

CAT is a Computer Based Test from the year 2009. Before that it is a paper based test conducted in a single day for all the aspirants. CAT scores are not only considered for the admission in to IIMs, other than this, some of the management colleges also consider this CAT scores for the admission in to MBA course.

CAT is one of the main input used by IIMs for the eligibility/suitability of the candidate for the first round of Group Discussion and then to the interview for the final round. Each IIM independently decides the score weightage given to the various areas of specialization and for the admission process.

Details of Test Pattern of CAT-2014:

The test paper consists of two sections as follows:

  • Quantitative Ability & Data Interpretation
  • Verbal Ability & Logical Reasoning.

Details of Test Duration of CAT-2014:

  • Duration of the test will be of 2 hours 50 min.
  • Test paper consists of 100 questions which have to answer within 170 min.
  • Test paper consists of two sections.
  • Each section consists of 50 questions each.
  • Each section will be of 85 min time.
