When it comes to naming the best B-schools in India, the first name that strikes the mind is the Indian Institute of Management (IIM). To authenticate my hunch, I collected graphs from various sources and came to the conclusion that it is without a doubt one of the best business schools in India. On accounts of these resources, six of the IIMs are included in all the top ten B-school lists with Ahmedabad, Bangalore and Calcutta snatching the spotlight away from the others. Each of the trio has also earned a spot for itself in the top 10 B-schools in Asia Pacific region.
The other IIIMs making to the list of the best Indian B-schools are Lucknow, Indore and Kozhikode. IIMs are the prestigious institutions offering business management education that have grabbed attention of scholars, academicians and aspirants alike. Ever since the establishment of the first IIMs (Calcutta and Ahmedabad) in 1961, the institution has strived for providing business education of top-notch quality. With an elevated level of schooling, the IIMs have distinguished themselves and have been dominating the area.
Owned by the central government of India, IIMs are autonomous bodies of which Calcutta was the first one to be set up followed by Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Lucknow, Kozhikode (Calicut), Indore, and Shillong up until 2014. In 2015, three IIMs in Rohtak, Ranchi and Raipur were established and again in 2016, another three in Tiruchirappalli, Udaipur and Kashipur. Programmes on offer in IIMs include post-graduation in management, Executive MBA , fellowship courses in management and several other industry specific courses.
What sets them apart from other institutions is the practical approach to teaching which includes trained, qualified and experienced faculties alongside state-of-the-art facilities and qualitative education. On top of that, the learning environment is very nurturing wherein tutors encourage students to open their minds up, participate in various activities, exchange ideas and explore something new each day.
Additionally, the IIMs conduct surveys and offers consultancy services to a number of industries regarding management in order to help improve the economy. Initiated by the Indian government, this process helps them find one of the brightest minds from the students' community. Once spotted, such students are trained in a specific manner so that they can manage different sectors to help improve the nation's economy.
The aforementioned factors along with a fetched up level of imparting education have enabled IIMs to earn appreciation around the world. The institutes are internationally recognised and their alumni are in high demand globally.
