IIM Calcutta Final Placements 2012-14: Amazon largest recruiter

The Indian Institute of Management Calcutta has concluded its final placements for the PGP batch for the year 2012-14. While the incoming batch size was 460 students, 20 students did not graduate to the second year. Out of 40 students in the second year, 15 students opted out of the placements. More than 150 companies made 465 offers out of which 425 were accepted.  The remaining 40 were multiple offers to some students. The information about the international roles was not given.

Amazon gave 16 offers, Apps Daily gave 14 offers, The Boston consulting group gave 12 offers and Accenture Management consulting gave 12 offers and these were the largest recruiters this year. Sales and marketing was the leading function hiring 27% of the batch, although the consulting gave 25% offers and Finance gave 24% offers.

The average salary of the batch was not provided

Analytics: Students were hired for Analytics roles by EXL, Latent View, and Bridge i2i.

Operations: Amazon offered various leadership and operations roles.

The institute did not reveal the roles offered in detail due to confidentiality reasons. Sales & Marketing: Recruiters from this domain included HUL, Asian Paints, L’Oreal, P&G;, Dabur, Emami, ITC, Nestle, Mondelez, PepsiCo, Kellogg’s and Emami among others. Sourav Ganguly recruited for a niche brand management and marketing role.

Finance: Bank of America Merrill Lynch, RBS, BNP Paribas, Nomura, Goldman Sachs, American Express, Deutsche Bank, DBS, HSBC, Standard Chartered, Dunia Finance, Optiver, Macquarie, Crisil and Edelweiss were some of the recruiters in this domain. CITI, Credit Suisse, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, BNP Paribas and Edelweiss offered Investment Banking roles

General Management: TAS, ABG, Adani Group, CK Birla, Hinduja, Mahindra, Reliance, TSMG, Ericsson, L&T, Cairn, Sharaf DG and Kirloskar recruited for general management roles.

Consulting: One-fourth of the batch was hired for roles in this function. Recruiters included McKinsey, The Boston Consulting Group, Bain & Co, A.T.Kearney, Opera, Accenture Management Consulting, Protiviti, KPMG, Deloitte, EXL, E&Y; and Capgemini. IT Consulting roles were offered by Cognizant Business Consulting, Infosys, IBM, TCS, HCL and Wipro.
