University of Mumbai in one of the oldest and the best universities in India. It was established in the year 1857. University of Mumbai has two campuses that are located one is at Vidyanaagari and fort region which are spread over an area of 243 acres and 14 acres resp.

The university has the sub campuses and the centers at Ratnagiri, thane and Kalyan.

The university also has 56 departments and institutes as well as 691 colleges that are affiliated to it.

1. St Xavier’s College

The college was established in 1869, at the time of establishment the college had just two students. The college is now considered to be one of the most prestigious liberal arts colleges in India and has been awarded the highest rating.

2. University of Mumbai

The kalina campus that is located in Mumbai is spread over an area of 230 acres.

University of Mumbai has the two other campuses apart from the one at kalina which are the ratnagiri campus and the fort campus.

The kalina campus of the university is the largest and also offers various courses such as engineering, medicine, nano science, various languages and radio jockeying etc.

3. Ramnarain Ruia College

The college was established in 1937 and the college is famous for its Arts faculty. Ruia college was the first college which was set up in Mumbai and is also them first college in the country to achieve the college of excellence.

The college has a 70 year old library that is present and has around 1, 20,000 books,periodicals,national as well as international journals and the magazines.

it also has an e-learning centre with the high speed LAN and free Internet access for the students.

4. Mithibai College

The college was established in the year 1961.Mithibai College has 50% reservation for Gujarat Speaking community apart from the conventional reservations for SC, ST, OBC and the female candidates.

Mithibhai College has 31 departments .Out of these 15 are postgraduate departments with seven of them are offering the PhD Programmes.

The Courses offered are offered in Humanities and Liberal Arts, Commerce, Biological and Environmental Science, Management, Media and Communication and the physical sciences.

The Fee structure for the Course at Mithibai College ranges from Rs 16,000 to Rs 18,000.

5. Wilson College

The college was founded in the year 1832.Wilson college existed even before the establishment of the university of Mumbai. Wilson saw the establishment of the University of Bombay in 1857 and in 1861.

University of Mumbai Wilson College offers the degree courses in almost all the subjects.
