In the first week of August first week, 78 students on campus have recieved such offers-58 pre-placement offers and 20 pre-placement interviews.
The total corresponding offers last year was 58, marking 34% increase this year. Students are still receiving the offers.
The Management consulting firms made the highest number of offers. The top four consulting firms are Mckinsey, BCG, Bain and KT Kearney giving 24 offers out of 31 candidates. Mckisney and Co and Boston consulting group gave the highest number of offers eight and seven resp.
AT Kearney gave the PPOs to all the IIM Calcutta students who interned with them. In the General Management domain the student’s recieved the pre-placement offers from highly coveted firms such as Tata Administrative services and Aditya birla group.
Philips gave three PPOs and two PPIs which is the highest across all the B-schools. Pepsi gave out three offers across its sales and Marketing and finance divisions.
Alshaya, a top retail franchise operator in the Middle East, gave eight PPOs. Other companies that made offers include Bosch, Nestle, Shell, Vodafone and iNautix. In finance domain, top recruiters included Deutsche Bank, Mondelez, KPMG, L’oreal, Medtronics and HCL.
“Companies seem to be realising the importance of summer internship program and are hiring more through the PPO route. The current figures show an improvement in the economic situation as well as the profiles of the students at IIM Calcutta”, said Professor Rajiv Kumar, the Placement Chairperson of IIMC.
In 2016, IIM Calcutta students received 112 PPOs in total by the end of the year. The institute expects the number to go up. “With 454 students in the batch of 2016, the 78 figure by August start is a healthy indication of the excellent skill sets being developed at IIM Calcutta,” reported the institute.
