Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University (BVDU) located in Pune conducts B-CAT examination every year for admission of students to the MCA course. This university has announced the exam dates for B-CAT 2016, which is generally conducted in the month of March every year.
Eligibility to apply for B-CAT 2016:
For first year MCA admission: Students must have completed their UG degree of 3-year duration with mathematics as a subject at the 10+2 or graduate level. They must have secured at least 50% of marks in the qualifying examination. For students from SC/ST category, the minimum mark required in the qualifying examination is 45%.
For lateral entry to the second year of MCA: Candidates must have secured their UG degree in BCA, BCS or Bachelor of Science in Information Technology or Computer Science with mathematics as a subject at the 10+2 level or at the UG level. Mark required in qualifying examination is 50% and 45% respectively for general and SC/ST candidates respectively.
How to apply?
Duly filled in application form that must be submitted along with Demand Draft for Rs.1500 drawn in favor of ‘The Registrar, Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University’ payable at Pune. The DD can be drawn in any scheduled bank or any branch of Bharati Sahakari Bank Limited. The filled in application should be sent to the admission office of the university either in person or through post. The application form should be submitted before the 7th of March 2016.
The examination will be conducted on the 15th of March 2016 and the results will be declared on 25th of March 2016. On 15th March the test will be conducted from 10 am to 12.30 pm. Based on the marks in the qualifying examination and marks obtained in the entrance test, the qualifying candidates will be called for counseling and admission. The date of counseling is 6th of April 2016 and it will be conducted in New Delhi, Pune, Kolhapur, Sangli, Karad and Solapur for admission of students to different colleges functioning under BVDU.
Nature of B-CAT Test:
The test is conducted for 200 marks and the test contains 200 multiple choice questions and there will be four options for each question. There is no provision for negative marking for incorrect answers. The test will have questions under the following sections:
- C Language Concepts
- Quantitative aptitude
- Verbal ability and reading comprehension
- Computer Awareness
- Logical and abstract reasoning
- Mathematics at higher secondary level
- Current affairs
Of the above-mentioned sections, the C language concepts, Quantitative aptitude, computer awareness and current affairs section will be conducted for 20 marks, 30 marks is allotted for mathematics at higher secondary level, 40 for verbal ability and reading comprehension and 50 for logical and abstract reasoning. This makes the total of 200 marks. This means the equivalent questions will be asked in each section as per the marks given above.
