The All India Pre Medical Test, shortly called as AIPMT, the responsibility of conducting this test is handed over to the Central Board of Secondary Education, Delhi with the directives of the Honorable Supreme Court of India from the academic session 2016. This test is conducted for admission of students to the 15% merit positions in the medical colleges in the country. This is also as per the directives specified by the Supreme Court and it is also stated that this test will be governed as per the rules and regulations laid by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare of the Indian government.
Voluntary participation of institutions:
Even, the state government institutions/universities are permitted to voluntarily participate in this test and can use the merit list for admission of students for the seats that are available under their control.
Who holds the responsibility of results?
CBSE is responsible not only for conducting the test, but the board is also responsible for declaration the results and it is also responsible for providing merit list to the DGHS and institutions participating.
The successful candidates for 15% of all India quota seats will be called for counselling. The counselling will be conducted by the DGHS and in the case of participating institutions, the counselling will be conducted by the appropriate institutions themselves.
This year the test was conducted on the 3rd of May 2016, but the question paper gone leaked in many states. However, some candidates took up the test on this date in different centers across the nation. But, some was not turned up, due to the leakage of question paper. Following this, the Supreme Court ordered that a re-examination should be conducted. According to the orders of the Supreme Court, CBSE made an announcement on the 25th of June 2016 that the re-test will be conducted on the 25th of July and also the announcement was made that the applicants will be informed shortly about the centers and admit card and they were also recommended to keep checking the website for details. Students can now login from the website of AIPMT to get the admit card for the re-examination.
CBSE not accepted:
Even though, the leakage was announced on many news channels on the 5th of May 2016, CBSE stated that the examination was conducted in the smooth manner. However, they have made arrangement to conduct the re-examination as per the order of Supreme Court.
Results of re-examination:
Even though, no announcement was made by CBSE about the date of results of the re-examination, it is expected that it will be announced around between August 20th and 25th. The reason is that for the May 03rd Examination, the date of result was announced as 5th of June 2016.
Students taking up the test are recommended to get in touch with the institutions for which admission for the 15% seats is done through this test score well in advance.
