Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University MASLPET 2017 Dates Announced

Under the category of medicine, the Bharati Vidyapeeth Deemed University (BVDU) offers a wide range of courses and Master of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology (MASLP) is one such course for which admission is done based on the merit secured by candidates in the MASLPET, which stands for Master of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology Entrance Test. Now, admission is open to this 2-year course, which is offered by the university through its constituent college known as Audiology and speech language Pathology Medical College, Pune, which was established in the year 2006.

Eligibility to apply for MASLP:

  • To apply to this course, candidates must have completed their Bachelor of Audiology and Speech Language Pathology/ Bachelor of Science in Speech & Hearing/B. Sc (HLS) inclusive of internship. These qualifying degrees must have been obtained by the candidates from any RCI Recognized center with an aggregate of 50% of marks. The course must be at least three years duration and candidates must also have their internship completion certificate from a center recognized by RCI at the time of admission.
  • On the last date of receiving application, the applicants must have completed 17 years of age.

Important dates:

The date of MASLPET 2016 is 5th of July 2016 and the results will be published on the 13th of July 2016. Last date to apply for the course and examination is 30th of June 2016. The university has planned to begin the MASLP course at the constituent college on the 18th of August 2016 and the counseling date is 23rd of July 2016.

Course fee:

The annual fee for the MASLP course in the case of general category students is Rs. 1,50,000 and management category students is Rs.2,00,000. For NRI/PIO students, the fee is US $7000.

Counseling:

Shortlisted candidates will be called for counseling and candidates are recommended to bring the originals of all their certificate right from class X to their degree course for verification purpose. They should bring class X certificate for age proof, while other certificates and mark sheets are for educational qualification proof.

Increasing demand for speech language pathologist:

Nowadays, there is a great demand for audiology and speech language pathology department and most of the hospitals have a separate department for this branch of medicine. However, the doctors with this specialization are hard to find. This is why candidates can make the best use of the MASLP course after completion of BASLP or other courses mentioned above to find better paying jobs in big hospitals operating in and around India.

Even, those interested in finding jobs in foreign nations can find appropriate job opportunities in hospitals abroad. Patients for these professionals will generally involve kids and elderly people, who lost their speech and hearing ability due to a trauma or age. Even, some adults lose these abilities after an accident or trauma and these doctors generally need to work with psychologists to provide the right kind of treatment to patients to get out of their illness. Both psychological help and medicine help are needed for these patients.
