The American Medical education system in USA is very different from that of the Indian Systems. The Medical Colleges in USA provide the education at Post Graduate level. Hence before one applies to the medical school in USA the candidate needs to complete at least three to four years of Premedical undergraduate study.

Below is the process which gives you the procedure of how to go through the Medical residency in USA.

1. During the Undergraduate Premedical course all the students who are preparing for the medical school are required to take the course in biology, chemistry, physics and English.

The Students also need to take the Medical College Admission Test to get admission to the medical college.

Once your clear the MCAT Exam then you will get admission in medical school and students are required to study for another four years to gain either a Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine or Doctor of Medicine.

After choosing the particular area of study the candidate is required to complete the residency training program and the duration of the program lies somewhere between 3 years and 8 years depending on the field of specializations. Before you start the practice you should clear the qualifying entrance exam i.e the USMLE-United States Medical Licensing Examinations. This Medical Examinations are conducted in four levels the first two exams can be taken in India and the last two can and should be taken only in USA.

The first step of the exam is conducted after third year. The exam basically contains the questions about the subjects of first three years of the medical school.

After this exam it will be the time to get clinical experience which is very important.

In this stage you will gain the practical knowledge of this profession.

In Step 2 the exam will be conducted for the clinical Knowledge. The topic includes the subjects that are covered in the fourth year.

In Step 2 even clinical skills also will be tested. This exam will test the practical skills in terms of professional doctor, communication and Manners.

The exam will be conducted only in USA at five clinical skills, Evaluation Centers that is located in Atlanta, Chicago, Houstann , los Angles and Philadelphia.

Once you pass the step 2 exams then you will be certified by the educational commission for the foreign Medical graduates and also a certificate will be awarded to the candidate.
