An oncologist is basically doctor who specializes in treating the people with the cancer. The three main types of Oncologists are the medical, the surgical and the radiation oncologist.

These different types of oncologist often work together to treat the person with cancer. Oncology is the study of cancer. There is lot of scope and demand for Oncology course in India.Medical Entrance Exams are also conducted for seeking admissions.The doctor who specializes in treating the people with the cancer is called an oncologist. Usually an oncologist provides the good care and treats the person with the cancer.There are many best medical colleges in India that provide the Specialization.

Within the field of Oncology, there are three primary clinical disciplines i.e. the medical oncology, the surgical oncology and the radiation oncology.

The Medical oncologist specializes in treating cancer with chemotherapy or the other medicines such as targeted therapy and the oral chemotherapy. A surgical oncologist is specialized in the removal of the tumor and the surrounding the tissue during the operation. A surgical oncologist also performs biopsies i.e. the removal of a small amount of the tissue for examination under the microscope.

A radiation oncologist specializes in treating the cancer with the radiation therapy.

The gynecologic oncologist focuses on the care and the treatment of women with gynecologic cancers such as uterine cancer and the cervical cancer.

The pediatric oncologist specializes in the treatment of the children with cancer. It includes all the primary oncology disciplines that are listed above

Few types of cancer most often occur in children and the teenagers such as certain brain tumors, leukemia, osteasarcoma and Ewing's sarcoma.

A hematologist-oncologist specializes in the diagnosis and the treatment of the cancers of the blood such as leukemia, lymphomas and the myelomas.

The basic role of Oncologist

1. Explaining the patient about the cancer and informing them about in which stage the cancer is in.

2. Discussing the treatment options and also recommending the best course of treatment.

3. Helping to maintain the patients quality of life by managing the cancer-related pain and also includes the treatment side effects like constipation, nausea the vomiting and the fatigue.

The person with the cancer is basically treated by good experienced doctors and also good in different areas of oncology. Cancer treatment basically involves the combination of surgery, the chemotherapy and the radiation therapy.
