The fate of AIPMT 2015 after Supreme Court’s intervention
The future of around six lacs students is at risk as the Supreme Court declared its verdict on recently conducted AIPMT result citing large scale cheating and fraud. The Central Board of Secondary Education was asked to conduct it again within a month span. It was held on May 3rd by CBSE.
There is no shortcut in education system. The situation is quite alarming as a huge Nexus, involving the touts, middlemen and prospective students came into light. The problem is, though the majority was not involved in this duplicity but their fate is in jeopardy. As reported, the students in various states including, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Haryana, West Bengal were found to be the active parties in this scam. CBSE appealed to the SC that they can segregate those miscreants later once they can identify them with proper evidence. The court’s verdict went against their plea. According to the highest Court in our country, allowing those fake students would create problem in near future. Pre medical test is hard to be cracked as the seats are limited and to continue with this result would be injustice for the genuine applicants.
The panic-stricken students urged SC to withhold the counseling process of other medical institutions. Here CBSE is still to update them with the re-test schedule, so they are under pressure with revision and preparation for the same. According to CBSE it can be held in November at the earliest. Now admissions in colleges are open but what about the medical aspirants who appeared in the entrance on 3rd May?
It is not a good option for them who wished to join the medical stream to wait till November. Many claim the judgment is partial. This decision is directly affecting the students who involved in studies and honestly appeared in one of the decisive examinations of life. If everything would have been right, they would have been in the process of enrolment in premium medical institutes by this time.
Appropriate & need based restrictions should have been applied well in advance before conducting a vital test like this and necessary actions could have been taken during the test when students were getting answers through mobile phones. After one and a half months, when this scam was unearthed, honest students have been given no choice except for moaning. Their yearlong preparation went in vein and till date they are not sure about the next move in their career. Students generally go through a scrutiny before taking their seats in examination hall. Now the question is how this mass cheating was well orchestrated in various centers. Candidates are never allowed to sit with any electronic gadgets, books, paper. Examiners keep an eye and if anything goes wrong they can expel the student anytime without any explanation. How did those centers allow students with fake identity, gadgets and papers? Why was no action taken immediate after the test when allegation with malpractice was noticed?
Genuine students are the sufferer for their no faults. They might suffer a year loss which is really very disheartening for those candidates, who sat for the examination to make their future in medical field. This test was supposed to select nearly 4000 students out of six lacs to fill nationwide coveted seats.
