University of Madras, Chennai invites application for admission to M.A. Degree Courses in the Department of Indian Music, University of Madras, for session 2016.Application are invited form all the eligible and interested candidates for the post graduate degree course. Candidates can apply for any of the following course.
Two years Course:
M.A., degree course in Bharatanatyam (2 years)
M.A., degree course in Rhythm ology (2 years)
This course is under private study (CBCS pattern) Eligibility
Educational Qualification for MA in Bharatanatyam:
Candidate must have BA/B.Sc./B.Com/ or any other degree of the University of Madras or any degree recognized as equivalent thereto by the Syndicate of the University of Madras; and
5 years of performance /5 years of teaching / Diploma in Dance of Madras University /any other Diploma accepted as equivalent is mandatory.
Candidates’ minimum age limit is 21 years as on 1st July of every year in which the candidate submits the application.
The candidate has to put in 30 days of attendance per year
Educational Qualification for (M.A Rhythm ology)
Candidate must have any degree of the University of Madras or any degree recognized as equivalent thereto by the Syndicate of University of Madras and 5 years of performance /5 years of teaching / any degree recognized as equivalent is mandatory
Candidate’s minimum age limit is 21 years as on 1st July of every year in which the candidate submits the application.
The minimum period of attendance is 30 days in an academic year
Fee structure of MA in Bharatanatyam: Rs.25000/- for 2 years
Fee Structure of M.A. Rhythm ology: Fee structure will be same as in the regular course offered in the Department of Indian Music

Interested candidate can apply online through the website at www.unom.ac.in and download the application form.
Send the filled-in application directly to Dr. (Mrs) M. Prameela, Professor and Head, Department of Indian Music, University of Madras, Chennai-600005 along with demand draft.
Application form is issued in person at the Information Centre, University of Madras, Chennai-600005 on payment of Rs 200/- (Rs 100/- for SC/ST candidates on production of attested photo copy of the Community certificate) by cash
Application form can be obtained by Post and Those who want to obtain application by post have to send a written requisition specifying the name of the programme together with a Demand Draft for a sum of Rs 250/-for Rs 200/- towards cost of application and Rs.50/- towards postage) drawn in favour of “The Registrar, University of Madras, Chennai
Note: Application form without demand draft will be summarily rejected.
