Complete Notification for CAT 2016

Full notification of the CAT exam 2016 is now out and the details are on the website. CAT exam is scheduled to be conducted on the 29th of November 2016. The registrations for the same will begin from 6th August 2016.

Important Dates for CAT exam 2016:

  • The Advertisement will be released on 26th July 2016, which is Sunday.
  • The online registrations will begin from 6th of August and will end on 20th September 2016.
  • The admit card will be available till 15th October, 1:00 PM till the day of the exam.
  • Date for the test is 29th November 2016, which is Sunday.
  • The results will be declared by the second week of January.

Eligibility Criteria for CAT exam 2016:

The interested candidates are expected to have qualified in the bachelors program with a minimum of fifty percent marks or equivalent CGPA. A relaxation of Five percent will be given to students who belong to various categories like Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST), and persons who are physically disabled (PWD) or Differently Abled (DA). These categories are awarded by any of the university under the act of the state legislature of India.

Selection Procedure:

Each and every IIM selects candidates who are shortlisted for the second round of selection process, which can vary in every college. The process of selection can include Group Discussions, commonly known as GD, Written Ability Test (WAT) or Personal Interviews (PI). The performance in the CAT examination is a very important part of the entire admission procedure.  IIMs also tend to use performance of the candidate in previous academic sessions. They can further assess relevant work experience and various other similar inputs in selecting and raking of the respected candidate during the various stages of the admission procedure. Academic cut-offs, the processes and the weights used for the evaluation of the various parameters may vary depending on the IIMs. For more information on the same, interested candidates can refer the policies designed for the admission procedure in IIMs on their respected websites.
