INAT stands for IUCAA-NCRA Admission Test. The reason is that this test is conducted by the Inter-University Center for Astronomy and Astrophysics (IUCAA) or the National Center for Radio Astrophysics (NCRA). The former organizing institution is operating from the city of Pune and it is an autonomous institutions functioning under UGC. The latter is also operating from the city of Pune and it is a center of the Tata Institute of Fundamental Research, a deemed university.
Eligibility requirement for INAT:
INAT 2015 is conducted for admission of candidates to research scholarship to do their Ph. D at any of the two institutions mentioned earlier.
To apply to this course and the entrance test, applicants must have completed their Bachelor of Science/Master of Science or integrated Master of Science in applied mathematics, astronomy, electronics or physics. Even, applicants can be candidates, who will be completing their Bachelor of Technology/Engineering or Master of Technology/Engineering in any branch by August 2016. The applicants must have secured at least 55% of marks in the qualifying degree.
Applicants with B. Sc qualification are eligible for pre-selection for Ph. D at the IUCAA and the course will commence only after completion of their PG in science. This rule is applicable also for integrated Ph. D course. When this is the case of IUCAA, applicants with B.E/B. Tech are eligible for Ph. D at IUCAA or even for an integrated Ph. D at NCRA. Other applicants with the appropriate qualifications mentioned above are eligible to apply for Ph. D at both institutions.
How to apply?
Applicants will have to apply online, through the website of NCRA and will be a two-step application process as detailed below:
Initially, the applicants will have to register themselves as a candidate for the INAT test. For those who already have a user name and password, they can proceed to fill up online application without any registration.
Once the application is submitted online, the applicant will receive an Email confirming that he/she has applied for the test. They will also receive an Email ID and password. When applying candidates should compulsorily give reference of two referees with their mail IDs and when confirmation mail is sent to the applicants the referees will also receive mails requesting them to fill up and submit the assessment form. So, applicants are recommended to keep their referees informed in this regard.

- Date of interviews (two): December 10 and/or 11 2015 and both interviews will be held at NCRA, Pune.
