The Jawaharlal Nehru University admits a limited number of candidates directly to Ph.D. programme either on the basis of viva-voce or written examination and viva-voce both as may be decided by the University both in Monsoon and Winter Semesters in various areas of research in the
(1) School of International Studies
(2) School of Social Sciences
(3) School of Language, Literature and Culture Studies
(4) School of Computer & Systems Sciences
(5) School of Physical Sciences
(6) School of Environmental Sciences
(7) School of Arts and Aesthetics
(8) School of Information Technology
(9) School of Biotechnology
(10) Centre for the Study of Law & Governance
(11) Centre for Molecular Medicine and
(12) Centre for Sanskrit Studies


Eligibility:
Candidates are requested to refer to the Prospectus 2016 (available on JNU website (www.jnu.ac.in) for details regarding eligibility requirements for direct admission to Ph.D. programme under the respective Schools/Special Centres. Candidates whose M.Phil/M.Tech./MD/MPH results are not likely to be declared by 31st May, 2016, need not apply.

Candidates enjoying employed status and selected for admission shall be required to produce Leave Sanction Order for a period of two years at the time of admission/registration. However, there is a limited provision for exemption of this requirement to candidates employed in research and teaching Institutions located in NCR.

Application Forms and Prospectus can be obtained through Post by sending a request along with crossed Bank Draft (valid for six months) for Rs. 300/- drawn in favour of Jawaharlal Nehru University payable at New Delhi along with a self-addressed (unstamped) envelope of minimum size of 30 x 25 cms with the words "Direct Admission to Ph.D. Programme" inscribed on it to the Section Officer (Admissions), Room No. 28, Administrative Block, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi - 110067 throughout the year.

Application Forms and Prospectus will also be available at the Counter in the Administrative Block of the University on cash payment of Rs. 200/- per set from 10.00 a.m.

(i) From 1st February to 15th March, 2016 for admission in Monsoon Semester

(ii) From 1st September to 15th October, 2016 for admission in Winter Semester

Application Forms received upto 15th March, 2016 will be considered for admission in Monsoon Semester beginning July, 2016. However, admission in Winter Semester beginning January, 2016 will be need based and subject to availability of seats in each areas of research. Interested candidates are therefore required to enquire about the availablity of seats before submitting Application Forms for admission in Winter Semester. The last date for submitting the Application Forms in Winter Semester beginning January 2016 will be 15th October 2016.
