Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam announces admission and invites application for M.Sc. Textiles and Fashion programme for the session 2016-2015.

Candidates must have passed Bachelor’s Degree in any Fashion or Textile related subject
Candidate must have passed Bachelor degree in any subject having textiles or Fashion as a core course or open course
Candidate must have passed Bachelor Degree plus a Diploma in Fashion or Textile related topic recognized by the University,
Above course is offered in a Women’s college so only female candidate are eligible to apply for admission
Bonus marks for (i) for participation in NCC/NSS (ii) for Ex- Servicemen applicants and widows and
Children of Jawans/ Ex-Servicemen will be given as per the existing rules of admission.
Reservation for candidates with outstanding records in sports and games shall be allowed as
Per rules. 3% of the seats under Merit quota are reserved for physically challenged candidates.
How to apply:
1st step: Applicants can download application forms from the website of the Mahatma Gandhi University Website: www.mgu.ac.in and Students can download the application form from the date 10th July 2016 onwards.
2nd step: Payment of Registration fees: Candidate can pay Registration fee of Rs.400/-(Rs.200/-for SC/ST candidates) at the cash counter of the University or at FRIENDS JANASEVANAKENDRAM or by way of M.G.University Challan from State Bank of Travancore. Challan can be obtained from the university website.
Note: Fee once remitted shall not be refunded under any circumstances.
3rd step: Application form is submitted in the office of the Deputy
Registrar (Acad I), CAP CELL, Mahatma Gandhi University, Priyadarsini Hills PO, Kottayam PIN 686
560 before /on date 30 July, 2016. And enclose a self-addressed stamped envelope (Rs.5) with application Form.
Candidates are selected on the basis of Entrance exam which Compulsory for the students.
The selection of the candidate will be based on the marks obtained in the qualifying examination and the entrance test. Selection of candidate for the admission to the M.Sc. Programme is on the basis of merit and management categories which is based on common rank list and prepared by the University. Admission to management seats shall be made by the management concerned from the Rank list prepared by the university.
Duration of the Entrance Exam: One Hour Type of Question in the paper: Objective type multiple choice questions each of which carries four Choices.
Subject Division for the entrance Test: There are three part of the question paper:
- General aptitude,
- Creative ability and
- Comprehension in English.
Entrance Examination venue: There will be only one Examination Centre for the Entrance Test. The
Venue for the Entrance Test will be mentioned in the Admit Card.
Note: In any case revaluation will not done.
Important points regarding Centralized Allotment Process:
- Admission/Allotment of seats to students under merit quota is governed by a Centralized Allotment Process.
- Selection/ Allotment of a candidate to the college will be based on the rank of the candidate
and seats availability in the college. While a reserved category candidate entitled to
Admission on the basis of his/her merit will have the option of taking admission to the
College where specified number of seats have been kept reserved for reserved category but
While computing the percentage of reservation he/she will be deemed to have been
admitted as an open category candidate and not as a reserved category candidate.
- Admission memo will be issued to the selected candidates after the Centralized Allotment Process.
- It is obligatory for the candidates to report to the college to which he/she is selected. Failure to appear before the Principal concerned for joining the course on the specified date and time will result in the forfeiture of his/her candidature and he/she will not be considered for any vacancies arising in future.
- Vacancies arising after the first round of allotment of seats will be filled up according to the rank of the candidate and reservation norms.
