There are also institutions and hospitals have which offer certificate courses in medical and allied subjects All these institution will be rated in three phases. Medical and dental colleges will be ranked in first phase followed by nursing colleges in second and pharmacy and physiotherapy in third. After the end of the three phases, a complete ranking list will be published.

Mayilvahanan Natarajan, the University Vice Chancellor said that this star rating will be based on set of criteria which include reputation of college, infrastructure, performance of college, quality of education provided and above all placement facilities. The set of criteria also include minor details like researches in the college, pass percentage, foreign institution collaboration and paper presentations.

Dr. Mayilvahanan also added that this rating system will also help colleges improve their standards and he hopes that this will end before the admissions starts for next year. He is also strict in taking actions to disaffiliate any institution which does not comply with the standards even after notice.
