CET Karnataka(KCET) | CET 2016 | Way2college.com

Government of Karnataka conducts an entry level test known as Karnataka Common Entrance Test (KCET) for admission to first year of various professional and technical courses in colleges/universities/institutes in the state of Karnataka. Karnataka Examinations Authority, Bangalore is the conducting authority for KCET. 

Courses

Candidates qualifying KCET can seek admission to the first year of these following programmes.

  • MBBS
  • BDS
  • BAMS
  • BHMS
  • BUMS (Unani)
  • BNYS (Naturopathy and Yoga)
  • B.E.
  • B.Tech.
  • B.Arch 

Eligibility

To appear the KCET candidates must fulfill the following eligibility conditions. 

Eligibility for Health Science Courses:

  • For Medical / Dental / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses, candidates should have passed Karnataka 2 PUC / 12 std. or equivalent examination with Physics, Chemistry and Biology as optional subjects and with English as one of the languages of study.
  • Medical / Dental candidates must have obtained a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in the PCB group both in qualifying examinations and common entrance test.
  • However Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga candidates require only a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in the PCB group only in qualifying examinations.
  • In case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility will be 40% of marks in aggregate in PCB group.
  • Candidate should have completed the age of 17 years at the time of admission. 

Eligibility for Engineering / Technology courses:

  • Candidates should have passed Karnataka 2 PUC / 12 Std. or equivalent examination with Physics and Mathematics along with Chemistry / Bio-Technology / Computer Science /Electronics / Biology as optional subjects with English as one of the languages of study and obtained a minimum of 45% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects,
  • In case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes, the minimum marks for the purpose of eligibility will be 40% of marks in aggregate in the optional subjects. 

Eligibility for Architecture courses

  • Candidates should have passed Karnataka 2 PUC / 12 Std. or equivalent examinations with Mathematics as a compulsory optional subject and obtained a minimum of 50% of marks in aggregate in all the subjects (45% of marks in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes).
  • Candidates have to appear for NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) and must get a minimum of 40% in it. 

Examination Pattern

  • KCET is a multiple choice objective type test. It is a two-day test.
  • MHT-CET consists of four papers of one hours and twenty minutes duration consisting of Biology, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry.
  •  Each paper has a maximum of 60 marks.
  • Candidates seeking admission to Medical / Dental / Ayurveda / Homoeopathy / Unani / Naturopathy & Yoga courses have to appear for Physics, Chemistry and Biology papers in the KCET.
  • Candidates seeking admission to Engineering / Technology courses have to appear for Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics papers in the KCET
  • For admission to Architecture course the candidate need not to appear KCET but they must appear NATA.
