And for making their dream come true, they have to clear some of these exams. Below you can find exams for study abroad.

Entrance Exams for Study Abroad:

1. SAT

SAT is scholastic aptitude test which is owned, developed and conducted by College Board of United States of America. This test is mandatory for taking admission in some universities in U.S.A.  SAT is of two types:

  • Reasoning test – This test checks the general writing skills and grammar of the aspiring students.
  • Subject test – This test checks the knowledge of the aspiring students about the subject they’ll choose.

SAT is to be conducted seven times in a year on every 1st Saturday of October, November, December, January, February, March, April, May and June. The average target score of SAT is 1000, and the target score of per section is 500. The lowest score of SAT is 400, and the highest score is 1600.

2. MCAT

MCAT comes under the category of medical college admission exams for study abroad which is required for those aspiring students who want to take admission in medical schools. MCAT is most challenging computers based test and has five sections:

  • Physical Sciences
  • Verbal reasoning
  • Biological Sciences
  • Psychological
  • Social and Biological Foundations of Behaviour

This test is conducted fifteen times in a year, and its duration is 7 hours, 30minutes. The average score in each section is 125. The average sectional score of MCAT is 125 and maximum is 132. The average combined score of MCAT is 500 and maximum is 528.

 3. LSAT

LSAT is law college admission test which is administered by Law school admission council for students who want to make their career in law in the USA, Australia and Canada. This test consists of five section of multiple choice questions:

  • Reading comprehension section
  • One Analytical Reasoning section
  • Two logical reasoning section

These tests are scored in three sections.

  • Writing sample

This is an unscored test which is taken at the end of test and copies of this test are send to the law schools in which the aspiring students want to get admission. The average score of LSAT is 150, but for taking admission in top 25 law schools, the score is 160.

4. GMAT

GMAT is Graduate Management Admission test. Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) is the owner and administrator of GMAT exam. It is used most commonly in United States, Canada and the United Kingdom.  This test is conducted in 114 countries and has more than 600 test centres. This test has four sections:

  • Analytical writing assessment
  • Integrated reasoning
  • Quantitative reasoning
  • Verbal reasoning

This test has introduced a new section of integrated reasoning which make the test more competitive. This test is very prominent among aspiring Indian students who want to take admission in MBA colleges. GMAT score range from 200 to 800, two-thirds of test takers score between 400 to 600.  GMAT score is based on quantitative, and verbal scores. The analytical writing assessment and integrated reasoning score do not affect the total score.

5. GRE

GRE is graduate record examination. This test is conducted for those aspiring students who want to study in USA and Canada especially, in engineering. This test has three sections:

  • Verbal reasoning
  • Quantitative reasoning
  • Analytical writing

This test is conducted in more than 160 countries and has more than 100 test centres. The scoring of GRE is done according to its sections. In verbal reasoning and quantitative reasoning, the minimum score is 130, and the maximum score is 170 with one point increment. In analytical writing, the minimum is 0, and the maximum is 6 with half point increment.

6. IELTS

IELTS is international English language testing system. It is a mandatory exam for study abroad which is required to take admission in the UK and other countries. IELTS is recognised by universities and employers in many countries like Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, USA and the UK. It is also recognised by Immigration authorities professional bodies and government agencies. This test has four sections:

  • Listening
  • Speaking
  • Reading
  • Writing

This test also contains vocabulary test as well as grammar test. This test is conducted in 120 countries and more than 500 test centres. The IELS 9- band scale. The score of IELTS is given from 1 to 9 for each section of the test. You can score whole (e.g. 5.0, 6.0, 7.0) or half (e.g. 5.5, 6.5, 7.5) bands in each section of the test.

7. TOEFL

TOEFL is the test of English as a foreign language. TOEFL is given by those students who want to study in foreign universities. Many government agencies, scholarship programmes and licensing agencies use TOEFL scores to evaluate English proficiency. This test has five sections:

  • Reading
  • Listening
  • Speaking
  • Structure
  • Vocabulary

TOEFL has conducted throughout the year usually, on weekends both in metro and the tier2 and tier3 cities. TOEFL test has two formats:

  • Paper-based test
  • Next generation computer based test

The total score for TOEFL is 120, and for passing each section, 30 is required. There is also an exam for younger students called TOEFL Junior.

You should consider the fee structure and if you consider doing this course from other place except Dhubri, you should consider hostel facilities, you shouldalso consider whether the subject in which you wish to continue this course is available in the college.
