The GMAT exam is Graduate management admission test. It is a computer adaptive test which measures analytical, writing, quantitative, verbal and reading skills of an aspiring student in standard written English. GMAT exam is prominent to those students who want to take admission in graduate management program, such as MBA. GMAT is conducted by Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC). The GMAT is computer adaptive test, but it is not computer based test. It means the candidate is given one question at a time and depending on the accuracy level of the answers, the difficulty level of the next question will be determined.

Things To Know When You are Planning To Take GMAT Test

An individual can appear for it maximum five times in a year and once in a month. The age of the applicant must be 13, and those candidates who are below 18 should submit a written form signed by their parents. GMAC has recently introduced a new Mini GMAT called Executive Assessment exam for executive MBA. The application fee for GMAT $250 which means Rs.15000-16000 approximately.

Syllabus of GMAT:

GMAT is a three and half hour test with a maximum score of 800 points. GMAT test dates are come five times in a year. The candidates have always a question in their mind that how to prepare for GMAT.The GMAT preparation can done through studying these subjects. The GMAT has four sections:

Analytical writing section – The syllabus of this section is vast. In this section, passage is given to the candidates and the topic of passage could be any topic of interest. On the basis of passage candidate will have to answer. The main idea is to focus on the structure of the answer and not the arguments presented. Candidates have to give always neutral opinion because it is not the test of opinion but it is the test of writing skills. So, candidates have to focus on their writing skills.

Quantitative Section – There are two sections in the quantitative section, namely Data Sufficiency and Problem Solving. In this section the questions can be expected from the following maths syllabus:

  • Geometry
  • Arithmetic
  • Ratio proportions
  • Properties of integers
  • Permutation and combinations
  • Exponents and roots
  • Elementary algebra
  • Linear equations etc.

Verbal skills –This section tests the candidate ability to understand the written material, read and grasp the logical relationship between the points mentioned in passage and concepts. There are some points which are covered in this section :

  • Rhetorical construction of the sentences
  • Critical reasoning
  • Sentence correction related to finding error or omission
  • Reading unseen passages
  • Misplace modifiers
  • Countable v/s uncountable
  • Parallelism

Integrated Reasoning Section – This section is the newest addition to the GMAT syllabus. In this section, candidates have to present the data in graph or table format. This section has 12 question of each type:

  • Table analysis
  • Graphic interpretation
  • Multi source reasoning
  • Two part analysis

Results for GMAT:

The result of the GMAT is received when the exam is over. The candidates have an option of accepting it or rejecting it. When the exams are over, candidates can download the non-official GMAT results. The main GMAT result can be download only after 20 working days from one’s individual account on the GMAT website.

No, for getting admission in IIMs for management course, you should have to clear entrance exam, but there are many other MBA colleges in where without entrance you can take admission

You should consider the fee structure and if you consider doing this course from other place except East Khasi Hills, you should consider hostel facilities, you shouldalso consider whether the subject in which you wish to continue this course is available in the college.
