Should You Travel Every Weekend When Studying In A Foreign Country?

It is true that students getting opportunity to study abroad will be interested in visiting as many tourist spots as possible in the nation, wherein they get the opportunity to study. Students particularly do this when the course duration is lesser as they wish to cover as many spots as possible within the available months. But, experts and students with past experience suggest that even though, students get just the weekends for free time and entertainment, they should never plan for an outing every weekend. Here are some of the reasons why this should never be done every weekend; however, they can do this, two week once or monthly once:

More money saving benefits:

Generally, the expenses students will have to make for visiting the tourist spots will be higher. Mainly because they are new to the nation, they do not choose to opt for public transportation services, which will cost them lesser as against private vehicles. Even, some nations do not have public transportation facility as well. So, to enjoy money saving benefits, it is better not to visit tourist spots every weekend.

Gain knowledge in second language:

It is better to learn the local language, rather than spending your weekends at tourist spots. You can use this time to interact with the people living around your college and can improve your local language skill during your study abroad programme.

You will miss out local culture:

When you keep visiting many tourist spots, you will never be in a position to learn about the local festivals and cultures. Generally, it will be highly interesting to learn the cultural activities of the locals and this can be done only when you visit their festivals.

You cannot make your mark in your study abroad home:

Your college itself is a foreign place to you and so you can make a mark in that place only when you make your presence during weekends, rather than visiting many tourist spots that are located far away from your college.

Meaningful experiences:

When you spend more time at your study abroad home, rather than at other places, you can gain some meaningful experiences.

There are also chances that you will get some life experiences when you get the opportunity to spend time with the locals, rather than visiting tourist spots, where you cannot meet a number of locals.

Conclusion:

It is true and quite understandable that this is your first study abroad experience and so you will be in whole enthusiasm to explore different tourist spots around your new city abroad. But, this is an opportunity to develop your understanding of the different aspects of the city, where you study abroad. So, make use of the best opportunity to gain better knowledge about the particular city, rather than visiting many cities and not remembering anything.

Of course, it is true that you will have to visit some interesting spots that you have never experienced in your home nation, but be selective in visiting tourist spots and you can plan these visits two or three weeks once, rather than during each weekend.
